Re: Score Predictions v WH
1-1 we surely can't be as bad as we were at Sheffield can we.
Re: Score Predictions v WH
I've done 3-1 Burnley.
Big response from us after last week, recalled players making a point, and West Ham have had some iffy results and look out of form

2-1 after being two up for 75 minutes and then being subjected to an onslaught for 15 minutes after they grab
a goal courtesy of VAR, but we hang on like grim death to gather a much needed 3 points.

Hammers have not won in 6 games, problem is with teams on bad runs, we tend to become charitable and let them win.

Re: Score Predictions v WH
2-0 and back in business for me . WH are in v poor form and a manager under pressure . I expect a real response from the players and having Wood and Taylor back are 2 really important “ jigsaw pieces” as we gradually work towards getting our “ best XI” on the pitch
Re: Score Predictions v WH
I have a good feeling about this, and what's more I shall be ont' Turf today
(well not actually physically on it, but watching those on it from the stands, although I shall be seated)
Anyhoo I digress. 2-0

Re: Score Predictions v WH
I think it is genuinely going to depend on that starting line up. I don't fancy Lowton against Anderson, but last season Bardsely had Anderson in his pocket all game.
If Taylor, Bardsley and Wood start, I am going 2-0 Burnley

Pretty much this, depends who starts for us. Really hoping for a few changes. I'm expectingWood and Barnes to start but would love to see Vydra given more than 10 mins if we aren't winning at half time.burnleymik wrote:I think it is genuinely going to depend on that starting line up. I'm going for a very nervy and scrappy 1-0 win with the obvious Wood goal.

Re: Score Predictions v WH
Depends on the line ups
If West Ham play Zabaletta ( the gift that keeps on giving to wingers with a yard of pace ) and we don't stifle Mc Neil by playing Pieters instead of Taylor then we should do well against them.
Having Wood up front, with Barnes, to put their defenders under physical pressure will also help a lot. Not to mention the importance of those two in terms of set piece creation and finishing.
If Pellegrini changes the habit of a lifetime and goes with a 4-3-3 things will be more difficult for us, but I can't see it. The newer West Ham players would also have to grow a spine to get the most out of it. Over the course of this season West Ham have consistently set up with an attacking formation, but they have played with a nervous ( almost defensive ) attitude.
That could be down to Pellegrini bringing in a host of expensive tippy tappy technical tarts who don't have the spine or the physicality to succeed in English football. Their performance has also suffered by bringing in very good players like Haller, who could do well in our league, and slotting them into a formation that doesn't suit them.
In previous matches they have seemed content to play non committed pass the ball in the middle of the pitch instead of showing any urgency in terms of getting forward. When they lose the ball or it is played over their midfield front runners ( not that they run to the front much ) they struggle. Rice is a good player, but he can get overwhelmed at times.
Playing with a high line is only effective when it is backed up by attacking football, without that it is a liability.
After their last match against Sheffield I suspect Pellegrini will play Fredericks, which should be very worrying for us. Fredericks is a very physical player who could get the best of Mc Neil and he would have a field day against Pieters and his poor positioning. If I'm not mistaken Fredericks is leading the league in terms of balls into the box, from flowing crosses or cut backs. Putting Pieters on him could easily cost us the game.
This is a home game that we should be winning, especially with Roberto ( concrete boots ) playing in goal for them. However, I can see it going the other way if key players aren't on the pitch.
With Taylor and Wood on the pitch - 2 / 1 to us
With Taylor, Wood and Zabaletta on the pitch - 3 / 0 to us
With Pieters and Fredericks on the pitch - 2 / 1 to them
With Pieter, Jay and Fredericks on the pitch - 2 / 0 to them
Lowton is the big question mark for me, based on his recent form. We really need him to get back to playing his best as soon as possible. Like Burnleymik I would be sorely tempted to play Bardsley today. West Ham struggle with physical players and Bardlsey is probably the most physical player we have.
Edit:
We need to get in front early as well. Pellegrini will probably attempt to shake things up in the second half by switching to a 4-4-2 formation, bringing Lanzini and his fresh legs on if he doesn't start him, and swapping a midfielder for Ajeti to give Haller the movement and support he needs to flourish. Haller is a good player, as I said earlier, but his movement isn't the best and he doesn't have what it takes to play up front alone.

Re: Score Predictions v WH
Do you ever write a concise post LTL Wood and Barnes linking up together again is huge for us,and i'd change both fb's,Bardsley and Taylor in for me.
Possibly Jeff for either Cork/Westwood in the middle also,we need another goal threat apart from the front 2,and Jeff has shown he can bag .
