Burnley Team in 5 years time (FM2020)

Post by claptrappers_union » Thu Nov 07, 2019 2:17 pm

Spotted this on the Burnley EXpress site, save you time clicking through all 5 pages of adverts and popups - some realistic targets I think

The wait is (almost) over: Football Manager - the staggeringly popular management game, notorious for its highly-addictive nature and ability to single-handedly destroy blossoming relationships - has returned, with the Beta edition of FM 2020 being released last Friday evening. For a bit of fun, we've simulated the game five seasons into the future, and had a look at how Burnley are predicted to line up in the 2024/25 season. Click and scroll through the gallery to see the future starting XI, substitutes, and manager...

Manager: Sean Dyche - He's still here! Despite the aforementioned drop back into the Championship, Dyche lead his side straight back to the top tier, and has splashed 260m on new signings between.

1. GK: David Ospina - Burnley's penchant for England internationals between the sticks is now over, with the ex-Arsenal stopper into his second season with the club following a 2.3m move from Wolves in 2023.

2. RB: Jayden Bogle - Snapped up for 11m, the former Derby County man is a recent addition to the side. His fitness statistics look to be exceptional.

3. LB: Juan Castillo - Like many players of FM, I would not sign Juan Castillo if he were called, say, John Castle. His name oozes flair, and the former Chelsea man offers just that for Burnley.

4. CB: Ben Gibson (C) - He's struggling to get a game for the Clarets in real life, but FM predicts he'll eventually get there, and also earn himself the captain's armband.

5. CB: James Tarkowski - He's still at the club, despite their brief dip into the Championship in the 2023/24 campaign.

6. CM: Isaac Hayden - He's the club's top earner on a rather tasty 80k per week. Leaving Newcastle after a big money takeover (yep, really), he eventually turned up at Turf Moor, and became a star player.

7. RW: Jordan Ibe - A fine piece of business, this is. The former Liverpool man has a 16/20 acceleration rating, and has been a reliable assist-provider since his 9.5m move from Norwich in 2023.

8. CM: Fred - Ooft, now we're talking. The Manchester United flop has reignited his career with the Clarets, racking up 14 assists in his first season since being signed for 14m.

9. ST: Dwight McNeil - Despite many an attempt to lure him away, McNeil is still at the club, and now playing as a striker.

10. ST: Luis Suarez - No, not that one - he's at Arsenal despite now being 37-years-old. Burnley's Suarez is the former Watford youngster, who goes on to be a fairly underwhelming forward.

11. LW: Harvey Barnes - This really is a delightful midfield! Valued at a whopping 31m, Barnes dazzles down the left wing. At the age of 26, however, he's still not been capped at senior level for England.

Subs

12. Sub: Moha Ramos - A Real Madrid youth academy product on the verge of a Spain call-up as backup goalkeeper? Yeah, that'll do!

13. Sub: Adalberto Penaranda - Another former Watford man, Penaranda was snapped up by the Clarets for less than 1m. He shows his value too, with just seven goals in three seasons.

14. Sub: Moritz Leitner - A bizarre signing from Burnley, who splurged over 10m to sign him from Norwich, before immediately loaning him out for the next two seasons. He's still yet to play a game, and wants out pronto. I don't blame the lad...

15. Sub: Jack Cork - He's now 34-years-old, but still gets fairly regular football for the Clarets.

16. Sub: Martin Rodriguez - Transfer listed two seasons of utter dross, the former Pumas man has turned out to be an almighty flop.

17. Sub: Robert Glatzel - Brought in for 10m after a 23 goal season in League One with Cardiff City, he never quite recaptured that ruthless scoring streak. He's a fine impact sub if nothing else.
