OT: X43 Bus
For my sins I'm headed to Manchester tomorrow and need to get from there to Burnley tomorrow evening. What is the cost on the X43 these days? Can you pay by contactless when you get on the bus or do you still have to pay cash?
I've had a look online but the Transdev website is bewildering.

It’s still cash on the X43. No idea what the cost is though.

Bowt £6.50 return
Re: OT: X43 Bus
Get on at Chorlton Street for return journey as there is normally a huge queue on Deansgate outside Moon under Water

You can pay for it by downloading the transdev app. Above poster is right its a tenner or so day return. Maybe £6 one way

Re: OT: X43 Bus
Thanks everyone. I never even thought about the train. I’ll have a look now.
Re: OT: X43 Bus
Definitely get the train. It costs a bit more but the journey takes about 20 minutes less and it’s more comfortable.

Re: OT: X43 Bus
I asked last season and was advised about the poor reliability of the train service. I’m on this Saturday and will stick with the X43. A return ticket is less than half the train price as a bonus.

Re: OT: X43 Bus
Still far too many trains cancelled. Worst about the bus service is coming out of Manchester at peak times, takes far too long sometimes in the traffic.Tricky Trevor wrote:I asked last season and was advised about the poor reliability of the train service. Haven’t got the X43 much since I started driving but I remember it being fairly tedious at peak times.

Re: OT: X43 Bus
It’s coming out of the city and when really busy it can drag all the way through Prestwich to the M60.SammyBoy wrote:Haven’t got the X43 much since I started driving but I remember it being fairly tedious at peak times.

Re: OT: X43 Bus
Get it regularly - it’s £6.50 one way and I just pay cash. If you’re in the centre of Manc then you can have a beer and get it from/to Moon Under Water or park at the MEN and get the stop just before there.

Yes, I can confirm the bus is free for me. Not sure anything else needed to be added.conyoviejo wrote:It's free for Claret Tony as he's an old git ..

Can get on at Skipton now. Skipton to Manchester at rush hour must be a nightmare, got to be a 2 hour journey at least.

Re: OT: X43 Bus
I can vouch for that. Up until last.year I used the service two days a week working part time.in M/Ç. The journey to Rawtenstall, especially at.this time of year was horrendous. Back in 1963 I travelled virtually the same route going to school(motorway wasn't there then) in Salford for a term before.living in Manchester. Nearly 60 years on and the road/route is the same but of course the volume of traffic isn't.ClaretTony wrote:It’s coming out of the city and when really busy it can drag all the way through Prestwich to the M60.

Re: OT: X43 Bus
It must be Manchester. Sat on tram at airport for 30mins extra because some goon had pressed a wrong button. The V2 out of City normally takes 45mins, we were 90mins. C’est la vie.
