If it takes so long to decide, it’s not clear and obvious.

It’s a crap system that needs binning.

Clear and obvious doesn't apply to offsides. It was an excellent goal, but he was offside. Can't really complain, especially after the first goal, when it shouldn't have been a corner.

Dyche this week said if you are offside by 3 inches then you are offside. Sooner they change it to daylight the better

All that does is move the line. How do you define daylight? What if there's just 3 inches of daylight?

That itself shows how fkd var is. How we can benefit so easily from a wrong decision as VAR cant be used as the goal wasnt directly a reault of the wrong decision.

there will be far more goals if the line is moved imho, instead of being ruled out for a toe being 3 inches off you would have pretty much a persons full body shape that will be onside, no brainer for me. I want to be entertained and VAR is ******* that right up !

Too close to call should go with lino or refs decision. When the red and blue line can’t be separated is too close to call.

To be fair that was quite a quick decision for Lee Mason.

What would happen to the yellow card Wood couldve got for celebrating with the crowd or removing his shirt?

Or what would happen if the goal was disallowed but had been scored after an advantage on the edge of the box was given (where var cant intervene)?

He was offside if you assume that the photo was taken at the exact instant, to the nearest one-six hundredth of a second, to when the ball was played. Are you so certain?

As for the corner, there's only two ways to stop that. One, to allow VAR to judge the decision for every corner, throw-in, free kick, everything. Two, to allow VAR to go back as far as it likes to find a reason to disallow every goal that is ever scored. Neither will happen - this is one aspect where VAR doesn't go over-the-top stupid.

But a corner was given and it was then up to them to defend it, not complain after the goal had been scored. You imply that it was a clear offside which it wasn't and the general consensus around where I was sitting was quite adamant that decisions like that(which took so long) are destroying the game. The system is flawed and most.definetly not enhancing or improving the game.

Next news examples of our first goal will be getting referred to VAR as after we scored the (wrongly) awarding of the corner was clearly massively important!!! So the game will just get even shi**er!

I loved Woody's celebration for his goal (with finger in his ear pointing to the centre spot) parodying a VAR given goal by the Referee listening to Stockley Park and Lee Mason choking on his bovril having to give us a goal.....

Thats sweet m8 :D :D :D

It does apply, according to the managers who had a meeting with Mike Riley this week

I think we should have a No Goal of the season vote come next May. I'm sure there will be a few contenders before the campaigns over but that one was a beauty yesterday. McNeils crossing is a centre forwards dream, he's up there with Dave Thomas, Taffy and McMinn.

The Premier League's own website must be wrong then.

I was telling my son yesterday that in my younger days we had centre forwards like Paul Fletcher and Ray Hankin who used to score with headers similar to Wood's yesterday. The McNeill crossing reminded me of those by Leighton James.

Chris wilder interviewed after yesterday's game says they were told at the meeting to overrule a goal for offside it had to be clear and obvious.

First goal has nothing to do with it. Nothing at all. The point is if VAR can take 3 minutes to make a decision then its not a clear. The onfield officials didn't disallow the goal. Thats how it should be. Not damn well reliant on some clown like Mason drawing lines on a screen to.see if a mi or part of a players anatomy was offside when the cross was desptached. Idiotic this VAR is at is currently being used. Ban it now.

I'm sure you aren't, but he could well have been misquoted or he misunderstood what he was told.

Found it - https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football ... is-wilder/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So they've either changed it and need to update their website or Wilder has got it wrong. As the vast majority of football supporters struggle to understand it, I suspect the latter is more likely.

Do well to beat yesterday’s.
