Just wondered if anyone's heard if he's okay. Not sure what the injury was was but assumed it wasn't good. Hope the lad is not badly hurt.

Wasn't it a dislocated shoulder ?

Ambulance was coming down the entrance by the cricket field as we were leaving

The updates were saying it’s shoulder

Yep same injury as Heaton.

Imagine being lanzini poor bugger. Got slated off his captain recently, then came on in a game like that, got a horrible injury and then has to spend the night at blackburn general.

Yes it was but it was not a dangerous tackle. Think they are called a professional foul in the modern game. You see them every game. No blame on Westy from me

Imagine it was the reverse. And Snodgrass had done it to McNeil in a game that was already done.

No need at all really.

Naughty, yes - and he got a yellow card. I wouldn't say it was needless....but that can be debated.

Westwood certainly didn't mean to injure the player and, a bit like the Son/Gomes incident last week, the injury makes his foul seem worse.

It was but Lanzini got away with one himself when he was lucky to miss McNeil with a lunge from behind.

I did think the ref would go back to book him but it too that long for play to stop he must have forgotten

Might not have been as bad if he hadn't overreacted as he went down.

No. He played for the opposition.

A cowards foul. Far too many people doing it. It was deliberate and it's endangering players.

The only deliberate fouls left in the game.

Stamp it out with red cards.

Every sympathy but if he got what he deserved for his lunge he would not have been on the pitch

Westwood had a bit of a mad 10 minutes, probably should have been carded earlier.

It was a trip. He injured himself because of how he fell. Very unfortunate but a red card for that? You can't be serious! The game is in a mess at.the moment.but a little bit of perspective is needed here.

The worst foul of the game was on McNeil but thankfully didn't make contact with him. Absolutely shocking and the West Ham player got away with it.

As for the Lanzini foul, I agree with Silkyskills1 - no way on earth is that a red. Doubt he'd have got a yellow from a lot of refs.

Every ref in the land would have given a yellow card for that. Professional foul at its best, otherwise known as "one for the team". It was very unfortunate that Lanzini landed in the way he did.

Every sympathy for Lanzini - but it's about the foul (yellow) not the resultant injury.

A bit like Ash Barnes and the cruciate he got at Villa in what in rugby terms is described as a 'meaningless rubber'

From TV Westwood's was a take one for the team, guessing it was the players landing that caused the injury.

As for the one on Taylor, there was no contact.

It's not by the law but I think it needs changing. It's deliberate cheating that over the last couple of weekends has resulted in serious injuries to players.

A foul that has no intention of playing the ball should have severe punishment. Yellow cards are nothing these days.

.
It didn't realistically help the team at all though.
With us 3-0 up going into injury time it was a stupid foul resulting in a deserved but unnecessary yellow card that could ultimately contribute to a suspension, and which unfortunately led to a serious injury.

Two separate incidents

Lanzini “lunged” at McNeil just inside the WHU half on the touch line but McNeil was thankfully to far away for him to make contact

The Taylor incident was more from center circle running towards the BL touch line when a WHU player dived in

Foul was a yellow card offence simply because he was attempting to break. You see the same foul about 4 times in virtually any game and 99 times out of 100 the victim doesn't suffer a significant injury. It's unfortunate, but that's really all there is to say on it. Wasn't even close to being the most serious challenge in the match.

It was the touchline one I was referring to - very lucky that the ref didn't go back and card him but it did take about five minutes for there to be a stoppage.

It was Fredericks who went in on Taylor. He pulled back and didn't go in fully, which could have been a leg breaker, but he put enough into it to stop Taylors run and put him on the ground. A one for the team professional foul the same as Westies.

Lanzini was just unlucky with his landing.

After watching the Westwood trip on MOTD it's not as bad as it looked from the CF end, from right behind him it looked a lot more deliberate and calculated.

I’ve not seen this back but live it looked like he thought he could win it but Taylor was just too quick. No real problem with it.

The one on McNeil was and the one from Westwood we’re not too dissimilar, both to stop the break, one was put in with more effort than the other.
Shame for West Ham ours seems to have caused a bad injury.

If you are referring to him stamping his feet as he lay on the ground then how is that over reacting given he had just dislocated his shoulder and if not then I did not see any over reaction on his way down and the fact that he landed on his shoulder implies his fall/dive was uncontrolled or he is a barmpot for deliberately landing on his shoulder to break his fall.
Not sure why he needed a stretcher for a dislocated shoulder since I think Tom and I know Pope walked off the pitches when they did theirs.

The Westwood one was a bit naughty but a ‘professional’ foul - definitely a yellow card.

The one on Taylor was a yellow. As LTL has said, he went in hard but withdrew a bit when he realised he wasn’t getting there. Tough when he probably has about a quarter of a second to react.

Lanzini was miles away from McNeil. Not the big issue many are going on about above. Should have been a yellow for the action but he was miles away from him.

Often weve failed to make challenges in the past (Sheff Utd being a case in point)
Its a shame Lanzini got injured but its one of the hazards involved in contact sport

And as for needing a stretcher for a collar bone fracture-save me. Arm sling would have sufficed. They often operate on them these days but a figure of 8 bandage for us plebs would suffice. Soft as clarts some of these footballers!!!!!

My daughter broke her collar bone 2 hours before we were leaving for a 3 week trip around Europe. It wasnt until 3 days later in Salzburg that my mother insisted we took her to hospital, that we found out what she'd got. One very guilty Dad.
In her case they just put a strap around her shoulders and said it would sort itself. Im sure it wont be more than a few weeks for Lanzini.
