Got all bases covered with that one, from ending his loan early to not extending it/signing him in January.

Either way he will say, I told you so.

Article implies we’re paying his full £120,000 wages. I genuinely don’t know whether to believe that or not.

Nixon was adamant Alex Neil was off to Stoke the other week.

There is not a cat in hell's chance we're paying Drinkwater's full wages.

Crank has finally lost it.

You haven't read it correctly - Nixon says that IF we extend his loan beyond January we will be paying his full wages from that point. So that pretty much rules out him staying unless Chelsea are prepared to alter the agreement

The way Nixon has written the article he is trying to justify him going back by saying we would need to pay his full wages beyond January - I can also back this up by saying (and I'm sure every single sane Claret will back me up) that there is ZERO chance we are currently paying him 120k a week !!!
I very much doubt we are even paying half that amount

Did none of you learn to read between the lines at school ? :D ;)

120 THOUSAND POUNDS PER WEEK !!!! Really ? I find that obscene, if true. I wonder what is the average weekly wage of people who go to watch a football game at Turf Moor ?

I bet it’s only about £30k so a 1/4 of that!

We won’t be paying 120k

Also said he's done little to force his way into Sean Dyche's team - now, forgetting the circumstances, I can't see how anyone can force their way into anyone's team when they aren't fit to play. There really is a non-story there.

" Evian " if Danny Drinkwater does get a few starts and does " well ", his form would have to be " sparkling " to make any move permanent, he'd need some " bottle " to try and " faucet " through.

He needs game-time, perhaps at a lower level, Harrogate or Buxton, maybe ? :D

Might as well send him back as he won’t play him unless there’s injuries to Ashley and Jack. Sean will stick to the tester two. Corky played well yesterday but before that I would certainly have replaced him. Pointless keeping Drinkwater.

Inevitable.

Be thankful for the players who have been here since 2017/18. Our starting XI is again fully reliant on them, as our signings over the last 3 windows are resigned to bit parts or no parts at all.

It’s almost like when you sign for us you have to perform consistently better than those already in the starting 11 to get a place. A strange managerial trait from Dyche.

We have been unlucky in the lone market not one player has it worked out since pre Vokes.

No way would Burnley would pay 120 K for a lone player that has not played any Premier League games for over two years.

I dont even think flush clubs would take that gamble, he wasn't match fit either or up to match fitness.
I am surprised he continued here after his night of madness, even if he gets up to making an appearance off the bench I am sure with Sean with his loyalty it will take some doing to break into the side with no potential of a future here.
All that said he could be need as cover and the main reason we brought him here but i will be surprised to see him play a full game for us. So was this lone signing another disaster for us i would quite simply say yes get rid.

Have we any good young midfielders coming through? I know we have a striker but not sure about middle players.

Off memory he had about a 6 game spell while on loan where he was superb, but once signed permanently was pants.

Off wikipedia his stats are 36 games and 5 goals in his season on loan. 1 goal in 40 games in his 3 seasons after.

I presume he had injury problems though.

He was injured and then he was never, ever first choice after that. It was a bit weird tbh. I mean what can you do with 5 minutes off the bench twice a month. And when he did start through injuries or suspensions he did well, but was just punted back on the bench when whoever returned. Weird. I'm just glad he played against Wigan.

And Blackpool

To be fair he popped up with some very important goals and assists.
Always gave 100% when called upon even though he was often either on the bench, or not even in the squad.

Two superb goals against Blackpool & Wigan. The one performance I recall in the Premier League was at Old Trafford in 2014/15. We might have lost but we played unbelievably well that night and Kights was brilliant.

He lost out after promotion really because we signed Boyd and he always got in ahead of him.

Given all his "problems" no point in keeping the guy

But he won't be short of other offers - Norwich, Southampton, Sheff Utd maybe, plus a few others inc Championship sides

Who will be the next choice for us ? - we have to find someone just for insurance against injury
