Re: Remembrance Sunday.
I attended the service at the Cenotaph, a few years ago.
Very moving indeed, worth attending one year if you haven't already.

Re: Remembrance Sunday.
I know people from all over the country fought and died in every conflict we've been involved in, but there's something very, very poignant and extra moving I think in standing in the JHU and looking out over the terraces and rooftops of Burnley whilst the bugle is being played like yesterday. Hundreds of our grandfathers and other relatives left those very streets and headed to France in WW1 and to other far flung parts of the world and never came back. I took my mum (87) to visit The Somme last year where her father had been badly injured and both her uncles killed and buried in 1916 and we paused at every "East Lancashire" grave we came across.

A lot there around 10:30 this morning when I went past. Had to get home but observed it at home with the TV on and will probably do likewise tomorrow.mikeS wrote:Large numbers at the cenotaph in Burnley this morning in lovely sunny weather. Will post film when I’ve edited it later.
