Chris Gibson and Stewart Ash - The Last Post

Post by jdrobbo » Sun Nov 10, 2019 12:07 pm

Two guys that work at the club or with BFCitCommunity, who performed the Last Post yesterday. In the past, Matt Hargreaves has played the Last Post with them but was away yesterday. I thought they did a tremendous job and feel they should be recognised for their efforts. I’ve played the Last Post several times down the years, but never in front of 20,000 people.

Stewart and Matt are good mates.

Great job guys. Takes a lot of bottle. Respect!

It was somebody in the disabled section, it wasn’t intentional

Ah, that makes sense, it did seem to come from that area of the ground.

The West Ham supporters also silenced a few just as the Trumpeters atarted the Last Post....

It was someone in the disabled stands and nothing should be made/thought about it at all.... as it is/was unintentional....

The lad that sits near me works with one of the lads playing the Last Post ... They did a cracking job and I agree with the OP they should have a bit of recognition...

Bet their fingers and instruments were bloody cold :? ... fantastic performance :D

Gibbo has done it many times in the past,
He even managed to get his trumpet into the ground at Olympiarkos

Well done that man.

The only thing more annoying than people making noise during a minutes silence is other shushing them.

Yeah, I’d say they’ve been doing it as a two or a three for at least six or seven years. I do feel it’s important that people recognise that all three of them are part of our setup.

One of the most moving tunes there is. Gets me everytime. Especially in such silence observed by so many.

I remember him randomly turning up with it in the pub opposite smacks after we got into the play offs under coyle. Couldnt believe it. Was brilliant.

A proper Catch 22. If nobody shushes them they don’t think they are doing wrong and continue. I get your point though.
