You're obviously easily fooled....
May be, but out of all those "in the know" on here, CT would be the one I put my money if I had to, as he never claims he is in the know, but just an educated comment from what he knows, big difference.

Nobody on here is.. In the know... And to be honest, that's how it should be.

Brighton are one of the host of teams tracking Rangers ace Glen Kamara. The Blades have had the midfielder scouted but Arsenal, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, Burnley, Aston Villa and Leeds United are also interested. (The Sun)
.........

Sheffield United have set their sights on Nice midfielder Adrien Tameze. Chris Wilder is keen to add to that department and hope to beat Premier League rivals Aston Villa, Southampton and Burnley to a loan deal. (Telegraph)

If it was allocated for a specific target, and that player is no longer available... Maybe we're not going to spend £20 million for the sake of it?
Drinkwaters salary and treatment bills Probably!! :o

" for the sake of it " ? Do you mean to give us a Premier League quality midfield thereby giving us a better chance if staying in said League ?
Do you ever have any money in your pocket the week before payday? I think not

If there is a suitable and available player at £20m then I am sure a bid will be made. If not I would expect them to keep hold of the money rather than buy an unsuitable player

According to the daily mail there's a 25mil budget, regarding the link I'm not sure how much truth is there, money wise TF & wages just seemed plausible to me.

What would be the benefit of Burnley letting Gibson go out on loan? I can understand if we sold him and brought someone else in or even used him as a make-weight in a deal but there's zero logic in letting him go on loan and weakening our squad depth.

There are plenty of bargains in the Bundeslegia as evidenced by signings made by other clubs who've made astute purchases.Huddersfield,Brighton and Liverpool all have succeeded here
Our scouting network is still being developed , very slowly. Some may say what network?

get him game time, get a loan fee, then we play him next season when we've sold Tarks

Here's the list of transfers from the last three windows from the Bundesliga to the Premier League:

Naby Keïta: RB Leipzig - Liverpool (£48m)
Jonas Lössl: Mainz 05 - Huddersfield (£2m)
Leon Balogun: Mainz 05 - Brighton (free)
Bernd Leno: Bayer Leverkusen - Arsenal (£19m)
Sokratis: Borrusia Dortmund - Arsenal (£13m)
Bernardo: RB Leipzig - Brighton (£9m)
Andriy Yarmolenko: Borrusia Dortmund - West Ham (£17.5m)
Erik Durm: Borrusia Dortmund - Huddersfield (free)
Jannik Vestergaard: Borussia Mönchengladbach - Southampton (£18m)
Max Meyer: Schalke 04 - Crystal Palace (free)
Yoshinori Mutō: Mainz - Newcastle (£8m)
Çağlar Söyüncü: Freiburg - Leicester City (£19m)
Christian Pulisic: Borrusia Dortmund - Chelsea (£58m)
Sebastian Haller: Eintracht Frankfurt - West Ham (£45m)
Joelinton: 1899 Hoffenheim - Newcastle (£40m)
Josip Drmic: Borussia Mönchengladbach - Norwich (free)
Jean-Philippe Gbamin: Mainz 05 - Everton (£25m)
Meritan Shabani: Bayern Munich - Wolves (£1m)

Loans:
André Schürrle: Borrusia Dortmund - Fulham
Ralf Fährmann: Schalke 04 - Norwich
Jetro Willems: Eintracht Frankfurt - Newcastle

From that list I'm struggling to find any bargains that would be within our price range, the cheaper ones have by and large hardly played and the more expensive ones (with the odd exception) haven't exactly set the Prem alight. Willems has been a decent loan pick for Newcastle and would be a good buy if they can get him for the reported £10 million in the summer but I'm not convinced by the others.

Very convenient Gibson supposedly just picking up an injury. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go this month. Lets be the fair the lad needs to get out of Burnley ASAP to try and save his career.

You could almost guarantee that if we let Gibson go this Jan, Mee would pick up an injury in the next game
He has to stay - unless Dunne has been recalled as cover for such an event

"unless Dunne has been recalled as cover for such an event". It wouldn't surprise me if we are trying to offload Gibson,SD then using those funds to strengthen. We also have Long of course for cover.

Surely this thread is completely redundant after the latest comments from Dyche and Garlick.

Why?

I thought the comments said unlikely not definitely no

Let me ask a question.

Would you rather we bought a player for £15m in January just to keep the fans happy who turned out to be a failure so that you could create another hysterical thread, or would you rather they waited until Summer and signed someone who genuinely strengthens the squad?

It is easy to walk into a shop and spend your money, they employ people to help you do that. It takes patience and analysis to buy the right things

For instance I don’t recall many complaints when Gibson Vydra or Drinkwater(although some expressed caution) but the money has gone

Our cautious approach has gone well so far. Ask fans of Blackpool, Portsmouth, Wovers, Sunderland and maybe Stoke/ Boro to come

Because we've been told it's unlikely. I'd rather we bought a player to improve the squad for between 15m - 20m that could potentially help up stay up, why would that only be possible to do in summer?. We have deadwood to clear to finance it, Gibson, Vydra out. It's just the club trying to save 2-3 million in fees by waiting until summer, nothing more.

Save money ffs. We spent a net £4m last window and now have a threadbare cm again. It is not even betting the nails for the ranch fence. Same as most years recently re cm. If we keep playing with fire we will get burnt.

I know we definitely need a RB and CM and looking at injury's a right winger and now possibly a forward... We could do worse...

The Daily Mail called Joe Hart an "outcast" at Burnley. From his enthusiastic shouting today and his general demeanour on the bench he looks to be very much part of the squad. I'm sure he'd like to be first choice keeper, but being number 2 doesn't make him an outcast.

Not wishing to seem negative but...
if we could, during this window, offload players SD doesn't want, Gibson, Hart, Vydra and the already gone Drinkwater, and carry on til the end of the season with what we have available, I'd see that as a step in the right direction for the future.

Because it would be a stupid risk to take. We are likely to get injuries and suspensions. I'd be extremely annoyed if we got shut of all those and brought none in.

Nixon tweeting that Bolton are after Jimmy Dunne on loan.

If true, I can't see us getting rid of Gibson this window leaving us with just Long as CB backup.

Jimmy Dunne isn't a viable option for the first team.....unless we go down to League One.

OK, i'll continue: Kevin Long for CB, we have no other CM players so we couldn't call on one anyhow, and we have 3 forwards, exactly the same number as we have right now because SD would probably pick Kevin Long up front ahead of Vydra.

We have 4 forwards available. Sell one, another gets injured, we have a bench without a recognised striker.

In numerical terms you are right, but i don't see Vydra featuring, Frank, just like I don't see Gibson getting game time. In reality, these blokes have been on the sidelines far too long to be match-sharp. We may as well look at the development squad.

if we could, during this window, offload players SD doesn't want, Gibson, Hart, Vydra and the already gone Drinkwater, and carry on til the end of the season with what we have available, I'd see that as a step in the right direction for the future.
So significantly weakening the strength of the squad would be a step in the right direction? That makes sense!

And if Pope gets injured or Wood/Barnes or one of our CBs?
Tony said Dunne was recalled with a possibility of going out on loan again so could be true.

I just hope we manage to sign at least one player, at least as MF back up now that Drinkwater is going otherwise we'll be royally screwed if we have a couple of injuries.

I've read something today that said David Moyes has had over 100 agents contact him with players that may be of interest to him.
Obviously, most will be chancers trying to make a quick buck, but it goes to show that there are players out there that are available.

We can't risk selling Vydra, as Barnes has his ongoing groin problem, so that is an iffy one.

I wouldn't sell Hart until the summer, and especially not to a relegation rival.

Gibson can go for me, Kevin Long is an able deputy when needed.

And of course ideally we need to bring a couple in (here's hoping)

We have 4 forwards available. Sell one, another gets injured, we have a bench without a recognised striker.

We have five forwards at Burnley the lad wells at qpr is still ours

You are assuming that the players in question are going to make a valid contribution?

Problem is we have to guard against a sudden injury crisis, however unlikely it may be. If Mee and Tarks were to both get injured and we'd let Gibson go we'd look very silly.

Agreed.
You need 4 centre back if you play 2.
Just like you need 4 cm if you play 2 :?

You need 4 forwards if you play 2.....or you just play a injured one in front of a fit one .....good for player moral that.

What about bringing some of the U23s in?

Well his hand might be forced on that one...if he thought any were good enough they might have had a run out yesterday or been on bench (have any been on bench recently?)
