According to three or four sources I was reading last night it sounds like Brownhill is a pretty much done deal at around 6m. It was even suggested he would play this weekend but unless Dyche breaks the habit of a lifetime I can't see that happening. Could be interesting though.

We've had five years (and counting) of PL football and two promotions from the Championship in return.
We have and done brilliant but you cant stay still in any league you are playing in or you will suffer and we are now and all good things have to come to an end eventually

Make it easier for you then, no need for adding up or listing loads of players. Name 1 manager with a 100% success rate in the transfer market
No manager has an 100% not even fergie but at least they got a game

I don't know, it was just 3/4 unrelated articles on NewsNow last night. Didn't really take much notice other than it wasn't just one and they weren't connected.

Not got time but im sure someone on here will be able to get that figure - its the money spent with nothing in return im worried about and every fan should feel the same - none of this he is allowed this and that - the club on a whole on recruitment has been woeful end off
You can (and do) say this all you like and I know you must believe it as you would not keep saying it.
But the fact of it is that you are simply wrong.
You have been told the numbers and sent the list of good signings versus bad signings so many times on the message board but you just choose to ignore them.
You’ve been told about the finances in a “Janet and John” way lots of times because you don’t understand them and again you refuse to accept the facts.
You’ve been asked to say which clubs have made less financial mistakes in the transfer market than Burnley in the last 5 or 6 years and you never answer the question - though you might have said Wolves once but you then ignored the answer which proved you wrong.

I’m not sure who is more stupid - people like me for continuing to respond to someone who refuses to accept the truth or you for ignoring it.
Oh yep I am sure - it’s you...but I do think it has become completely pointless any of us responding to you.

Sorry but would not have played so no where near close but if we do get him lets hope he has improved since his Preston days as their fans had nothing good to say about him.

He was left out at weekend though so something may have changed since then, who knows? I'm not saying I'm right bud, just reporting what I read in 3 or 4 unrelated articles.

11 million plus wages is a lot of money to take a risk on when the Club supposedly hasn't got a pot to p1ss in.

Probably all from the same source as Lancs Live and we know how dependable they are.

There is no way Bristol City who are one point off the play offs will sell Brownhill for less than £10m IMO. My take on all this is that SD has said any signings are unlikely which doesn't mean we aren't looking at players but letting other clubs know that we aren't prepared to pay over the odds which we all know is nearly impossible in the January window.

I think the Brownhill rumour is just an old regurgitated one because he is from the NW and that Eliasson has just been added to the rumour because we need a pacey winger. I do wonder if these rumour sources read our forum because a lot of the rumours seem to match what is being posted on here.

I hope we're already setting our sights on another player, as from what I've read, mixed with how slow we can be, mixed with Sheffield United also interested, I can't see the Brownhill transfer happening. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it does, but I just can't see it.

The other player from Bristol City looks very decent.

Seeing as we have so many body language experts on here I'm amazed that there wasn't anybody at the game last night watching how Brownhill waved to the fans at the end.

Was it a thanks for your support wave, was it a see you Saturday wave or was it a goodbye for ever wave? :D

Maybe. All that said if we did get him it would be refreshing, if he gets a game. By the way to balance things out a little there was one article (I think it may have been a local Bristol rag) that said the deal wasn't happening any time soon - you pays your money as they say.

You don't play players if there is an agreement in place to sell him for fear of injury scuppering the deal
for both parties.

If it happens I'll juggle soot.

Just the 5 or 6 that constantly do would be far easier.

They ruin every thread as it's only their opinion that matters, and failure to agree results in a slanting match pages long.

Many have got used to it, and managed to ignore them

This is what a no 10 is.... .a second striker.
Ings was a 10
Blake was a 10 and some at the time.
Vydra is a 10

The maddisons and grealish of this world are attacking midfielders who join in on the edge of their own box and the opposite box. Box to box midfielders with flare if you like :?
I thought the latest term for the Maddisons/Grealish/Barkley type player was No8? The Prisoner would be most unhappy....

I always remember it in a 4-4-2 as:

9 10
11 6 8 7
3 4 5 2
1

Beckham was 7 for instance. Alan Shearer was 9. Left and Right back was always 3 and 2. If it was a 4-4-1-1 then 10 (which Hendrick has played) would be behind 9.

I want to believe that's what we do...........but we did sign Nahki Wells
Presumably when we signed Wells & Vydra the plan was to play a target man (Woods/Barnes) alongside a No10(Vydra/Wells/Jayrod), in a change of style to more of along the ground, passing game?
Fortunately or unfortunately lumping it up to 2 big men got us out of the manure last year & got us a good start this season.....

Yes Frank, but a player like Sheringham was regarded as a No10 & he was deffo a forward player as opposed to a midfielder. We know that cos of how old he was when he finished, if he'd been a midfielder he'd have had to run around more & would have retired earlier lol

Shaqiri has struggled for game time since making a £13.5m move from Stoke City back in 2018, playing back up to the formidable attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

In the summer, the 28-year-old hinted that he may look to move on, saying: “I’m disappointed that I do not play anymore. Nobody likes to sit on the bench.

“It's clear that I want more time. I have to look at the situation and find a solution.”

would he consider Burnley?

https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/footb ... r-21275207
His salary would be the stumbling block, I'd imagine?

Reading the Bristol fans forum he drives the team forward, energetic, high pressing. Decent shot and scores goals.

Yes Frank, but a player like Sheringham was regarded as a No10 & he was deffo a forward player as opposed to a midfielder. We know that cos of how old he was when he finished, if he'd been a midfielder he'd have had to run around more & would have retired earlier lol
Yes I agree. It was alboclaret who mentioned 10 as a midfielder.

10 has never been a midfielder, for me.

Do you include yourself in this ?
I do try to ignore yes, surely you'll have noticed my discussions/opinions have all but ended?

ironically a couple dont even live local, and I'd hazard a guess they dont "support" the team as much as they like to make out.

Perhaps we should have sent somebody to Derby and analysed his style of play, strengths and weaknesses, before we signed him. ;)
We couldn't, we didn't have SuperMike Rigg then! :D

I never said 10 was a midfielder.
I gave examples of players that are 10 for us.

Someone further up said maddison and grealish were 10s and I said they are attacking midfielders.

I thought the latest term for the Maddisons/Grealish/Barkley type player was No8? The Prisoner would be most unhappy....
Yeah
These are not no 10s for me

I would like to think we would be "monitoring" the situation. I think he would do well with us.
