Might have already been mentioned, but can't be ar$ed reading all of the above guff.

Harold Moukoudi - £10m ?

Vedat Muriqi - £26.3m ?

I'm disappointed with the cash figures being mentioned though. £4m for Wells is extremely cheap, given that we paid £10m for Jay in the Summer ( who is of a similar age, and had a less impressive goal scoring record for last season, when you take out the soft penalties ).
Jayrod has played the bulk of his career in the Premier League. Wells almost half of his in league 1 and 2.

Whether he does or not, be nice to have a decent body on the bench who can come on for a tiring JC or AW.

Relieved to see one this moving towards completion. We couldn't go into the final stretch with only three midfielders.

Brownhill is a good player who will offer us some interesting new tactical options going forward. The fact that we might actually sign a player with holding value and the potential to increase in value is also welcome.

The addition of Brownhill will also allow us to break up the strangle hold that Cork and Westwood have enjoyed on the central midfield slots. Hendrick has frequently been asked to play up front or out on the right, which aren't his natural or preferred positions. He was the best candidate from our limited options, noble enough to put the team ahead of his own preferences and courageous enough to shoulder the abuse that accompanied playing out of position.

Hopefully, the arrival of Brownhill will give Hendrick more opportunities to play in the middle of the pitch which could benefit us. Signing Hendrick up to a new deal would be the midfield icing on the cake for this window. He is a hugely under rated player and a very important one for us. As time moves on that looks less and less likely, which would put us back to square one for the Summer and leave us heavily out of pocket. Losing Hendrick on a free transfer to another team, when we could have sold him, will also raise questions about our transfer strategy. We can't afford to let valuable players leave for nothing.

Wells going the other way is a nice move for the player and both clubs.

I'm disappointed with the cash figures being mentioned though. £4m for Wells is extremely cheap, given that we paid £10m for Jay in the Summer ( who is of a similar age, and had a less impressive goal scoring record for last season, when you take out the soft penalties ). £6m less, in the window that carries a price premium for " on form " strikers, is very low. Especially, when you consider the difference Nahki could make to Bristol City in terms of a promotion push and the lucrative benefits that would accompany promotion.

£10m was a top whack price for Brownhill, given his contract clause.

Happy with the swap, but it seems like Bristol stuck to their guns and held out for the best price they could get for Brownhill while we dropped our asking price for Wells. Stringing things along until QPR and Forrest pulled out probably didn't help our negotiating hand.

Then again, the figures being quoted are by the media. Hopefully, they are wrong and we played our fairly strong hand better.

Ticking the box for a fourth midfielder is a relief. Although I wouldn't call this window a success for the recruitment team if that is all we do. I don't buy into the media story of a " dry window ". Other teams are spending less ( because one or two transfers from the big teams can radically adjust the cash total and they are promoting more from within ), but that is just a figure. It doesn't reflect on the business that could be done.

The Winter window has never been susceptible to the domino effect. It has always been more about picking up hidden gems and spotting under the radar opportunities. Teams that are heavily focussed on headline grabbing players, and the obvious statistical front runners, will struggle to do business in the Winter window. Those players are going nowhere and if they do the price premium attached to them will be excessive. Getting something out of the Winter window requires quality recruitment, which goes beyond rudimentary cream skimming, but it can be done.

The fact that the entirety of our business in this window might revolve around an opportunity that dropped into our lap is very concerning. We can't rely on lady luck to keep stepping up to the plate to do our job for us.

It isn't done until we see the shirt holding photos.
I'd be amazed if Hendrick signed a new deal at this stage. Think its 90% certain he's off in the summer, and Brownhill is his replacement.

Losing Hendrick on a free would be a loss, despite what the whipping boys say he is important to us as he plays multiple positions without grumbling and works ever so hard for the side. I too agree that if we know he is leaving already , that Brownhill. If he signs, will be Hendricks replacement .

What did we pay for Hendrick, 13 million? After getting 4 decent seasons out of him I'd say we've got our money's worth.

Yes but no point letting him go for free - he’s still worth a lot of money. Most promoted teams would pay a lot for an established premier league midfielder who has scored a few goals.

If he won't sign a new deal though there's not much we can do about it? Unless we tried to get shut this month, like we've done with Wells?

Something tells me competing for a spot in the Irish NT is a bit different to the English one.

For the record, with regards to “abuse” Hendrick gets here, I’ve seen Irish fans give him a lot worse.

Watched him a lot this season (on highlights). Very good Championship player from what I can tell but doesn’t seem a Prem player to me. Or maybe what I mean is not the type of winger we need in that he doesn’t seem that quick. Probably would do okay in a footballing side that would play the ball behind for him to run on to.

Given we soak play up and hit them on the break/play for set plays, I think we need a rapid winger that can take players on, beat them, win FK’s, whip crosses in, etc. Not seen that from him in the highlights I’ve watched.

I am tempted to agree with your point about style - certainly suits Palace in the same role Townsend plays. From what I’ve seen of Bowen when he drives inside he does win a fair amount of free kicks though, and he is versatile (can also be played behind the striker.

Definitely agree with regards to pace. I mentioned Adama after we qualified for Europe but obviously Wolves bid £18m. Bright Samuel from what QPR fans suggest has a lot of pace on him, young player too.

Reads like we have to sell to buy which makes sense considering we're seemingly living off our earnings rather than any input from our owners and with £80 million outgoings in wages from a £120 million a year turnover it makes sense.

I am sure if he had been offered to QPR for £4 million they would have bitten our hand off.

When a figure was first quoted Lee Hoos said that the figure quoted was "above their valuation" but I am sure they value Nakhi at £4 million or slightly more.

I wonder if Nakhi will celebrate if he scores on Saturday?

I'd take everything that Dyche and the club say with a pinch of salt. Obviously we are not awash with cash but Dyche does not like to discuss any of the club's business and makes blunt statements to close these sort of topics down and not get asked about them at various press calls.
It is apparent the club choose to do their business as discreetly as possible and resent agent and journalists gossip.
This can be frustrating for fans but the board believes is the best way for us to do business and leads to a lot of crap and uninformed supposition on this site and particularly this thread.

West Ham are the classic panic car crash of a club. Linked with every man and his dog. End up paying 40m for players who have had one decent year and no prem experience. Then nearly get relegated every season.
