45 million HALLER and 25 million FORNALS ?
45 million HALLER and 25 million FORNALS ?
I have been know to be critical of our signings (or lack of them) in the past. BUT when i see the likes of Haller and Fornals masquerading as multi million pound footballers (no doubt on multi million salaries) then I thank my lucky stars that the only similarity between Burnley and West Ham are our club colours. Some agent somewhere must be bathing in Champagne. Up the ( northern) Clarets

£45,000,000 Haller = 3 x Chris Wood or approximately SIXTY Ashley Barnes

Quickest that Fornals moved was when his number came up to be substituted.

Tbf Haller has looked a decent player at times. He was so isolated on Saturday it was unbelievable.

Re: 45 million HALLER and 25 million FORNALS ?
Wasnt Barnes £450k ? In that case he cost just 1% of the hapless Haller !
Re: 45 million HALLER and 25 million FORNALS ?
But then you could also show Mahrez and Kante for the polar opposite.
Swings and roundabouts, but I prefer our way of no/low risks.
It's just the age and style of player that I'd like to improve on when recruiting.
I am aware the style and age though may not go with the framework and subsequently may not achieve the results that the current style of play and player do.

Adams and Andone spring to mind.

450 + add on's for promotion, Dyche said last week it was about 750 in total - can't be many better value for money players in the history of the PL

Re: 45 million HALLER and 25 million FORNALS ?
Haller IS a good player. What would Wood cost today after 70 goals in the top flight at 25 year old?
(wood has 24 top flight goals at 28 years old).

Re: 45 million HALLER and 25 million FORNALS ?
Goals scored don’t always tell the full story. For example scoring for Burnley in the Premier League is much tougher than scoring for Barca etc. Not claiming Wood is a superstar but I don’t believe Haller is worth what West Ham paid
Re: 45 million HALLER and 25 million FORNALS ?
For every Kante & Mahrez bargain there are ten times (at least) as many flops.
Leicester have had plenty themselves with the money they spent from the Kante & Mahrez profits - Slimani, Silva and plenty of others. If you look at their team now it’s noticeable that they have a good core of players from the lower leagues and young English talent (Barnes, Chilwell etc)
West Ham are one of the worst culprits for wasting money on over valued players not proven in this league.
There may well be bargains out there in Europe and further afield but anyone looking through the squads and transfers in the premier league in the last few years can see how hard it is.
Somebody mentioned Wolves success in the bringing in overseas profits players in last couple of years - have a look at their squad and transfers in the last 2 or 3 years. They have wasted a hell of a lot of money on loan fees on players that got nowhere near the team.

Oh absolutely. That's why Suarez and Messi would get nowhere near our side.FCBurnley wrote:Goals scored don’t always tell the full story. For example scoring for Burnley in the Premier League is much tougher than scoring for Barca etc.

Cricketfield does tend to struggle with numbers.ClaretTony wrote:He has 26 at 27 years old to be accurate
It's also a bit of a stretch to compare the Eredivisie to the Premier League.

So he has - wiki hadn't updated Saturdays goal and I hadn't realised he had scored 1 other premier league goal before he came here.. 28 next month.ClaretTony wrote:He has 26 at 27 years old to be accurate
I am a big Wood fan. So wasn't a criticism of him. More recognition that Haller is a very good player and in this bonkers market £40m is good value given he is younger than Wood with a much better record.

Even if you discount his record in Holland, which is good he has scored as many goals in The Bundesliga for Frankfurt in far less games than Wood has for us at this level at a much younger age.Tall Paul wrote:Cricketfield does tend to struggle with numbers.

Re: 45 million HALLER and 25 million FORNALS ?
Jozy Altidore is good example of that. 39 goals in 69 games for AZ Alkmaar - 2 goals in 70 games for Hull & SunderlandTall Paul wrote:Cricketfield does tend to struggle with numbers.

And for every Altidore there are plenty of Van Nistelrooy, Kluivert, Bergkamp, Romario, Ronaldo, Van Persie, Kuyt, Huntelaar, Luis Suarez, Arveladze, Mols, Makaay, Nillis, De Jong, Henrik Larrsson, Tomasson etc etcClaretTony wrote:Jozy Altidore is good example of that. 39 goals in 69 games for AZ Alkmaar - 2 goals in 70 games for Hull & Sunderland
Reminds me of your post about players not doing much after arsenal...

Rouwen Hennings is scoring for fun in the Bundesliga....tbh from what I have seen of the Bundesliga the quality is generally not of the level of the premier league beyond 4 or so teams.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Even if you discount his record in Holland, which is good he has scored as many goals in The Bundesliga for Frankfurt in far less games than Wood has for us at this level at a much younger age.

I think Wood’s record stands up to Haller’s now and this season will be a good gauge on who’s the better player but I know who I prefer irrespective of his offsideitis that many believe he has
Re: 45 million HALLER and 25 million FORNALS ?
Goal scoring comparisons have 3 sections. 1/ The ability of the player 2/ The ability of his team mates 3/ The standard of the opposition.

Hi random, maybe someone else has already posted. Latest comment from Sean Dyche - last week - on Ashley Barnes transfer fee was £450k plus some add-ons (I think connected to our first SD promotion) - total fee £750k.randomclaret2 wrote:Wasnt Barnes £450k ? That's a big percentage of add-on, 67% of the original fee. I don't know what our transfer negotiators were thinking of.

Re: 45 million HALLER and 25 million FORNALS ?
Many players, especially foreign ones, take a season to get used to the Premier league, given Haller has only got 13 games under his belt, there isnt anything to compare.
Besides do you think Chris Wood would have had a sniff if he were playing up front for West Ham on Saturday, instead of us. I doubt it.

Don't know anything about Haller, the only thing I can say is after Saturdays showing he does not look like a 45 million pound player.
