Colin has gone

I see that Neil Warnock has left Cardiff by mutual consent

He was retiring at the end of the season anyway apparently and the club were actively seeking his replacement, however seems they might have acted quicker and come to an early agreement due to the poor start.

I'll go Pulis..

He'll be missed by Burnley fans on here. He's provided us - inadvertently- with some good fun.

Yeah- that will probably be the end of his career now- although I think he's "retired" at least once before.

Cardiff lost at home to the English Club across the water at the weekend and away to Swansea a couple of weeks ago, now in mid table 7 points below the last play-off place. He's done a decent job there overall but probably a good decision all round for him to go.

Colin's just a few months older than me & I retired (happily) about 8 years ago, time for him to follow some other pursuits & relax; had a very decent career.

I have been a detractor of Colin and his method of working but..... He was always good for a giggle if punditting on the telly box.

Tells it how it is ... perhaps him and Ian Holloway could get together and do a Saint and Greavesie type show... Stan Ternent could be the 1st guest :D

Pity is wasn't 10 years ago. I really can't be doing with him and this has nothing to do with his run-in with Stan.

Don’t like him, but it can’t be denied he’s had a more than decent managerial career.

Was clearly time for him to go at the end of last season. If he was too stubborn to see it the club should have forced his hand.

Normally I'd be rubbing my hands, but hes just an old man now, probably his last job as well, best let him go in peace.

I think he won the who's the most successful manager competition with Stan. His memoirs will be interesting.

Very good manager who was always good value.

Miss characters like that and a feud like his and Stans in the modern game.

Not sure really. I can remember him talking about retiring and saying the Sala tragedy had taken a lot out of him but thought he'd had a change of heart at the end of the season. I may be wrong though.

The game is becoming so sterile now. Definitely think he is the last or one of the last of his breed.

There are no 'rivalries' like his and Stan, Keane and Vieira etc now.

Anyone who went to the Joey Barton Q & A in Colne might have an inkling that Colin’s decision to stay on at Cardiff this season may have been motivated by financial reasons (allegedly)

And he’d every right to with the appalling decisions in that game. Ref was Pawson.

Sad to see him go a real character and very successful career . True, he’s a pantomime villain but his passion was undoubted . How he kept Rotherham up that year was remarkable .

A keen bird watcher in his spare time. and once threatened to kill Bil Oddie after a particularly fractious “ twitching “ session when Colin decided to take a dump in Oddie’s flask

That made me laugh out loud
Is “Oddie’s flask” a euphemism ?

It sounds like a quote from a Viz article !

He did his bit for Cardiff, with little to spend, comparatively.

Offered to go previously, so honourable exit.

Cheerio Colin.

To be fair lads he was a HORRENDOUSLY ugly man. Never felt right seeing his face on MOTD. In olden times he'd have been earning his crust on the carnival sideshow circuit with Merrick and the lads. And probably the mutant who's in temporary charge of Hearts just now.

He is the last of the decent characters of the game. Managers and players these days are so dull - I don’t like any of them.

I’ve always liked him though

Don’t really get all the hatred towards Warnock.

I always thought he’d be a great fit at Burnley, and very much like Barton, if he was to come here then we would absolutely love him.

I can’t recall the year, but I vaguely remember Warnock getting dogs abuse at the end of a game as he walked towards the tunnel. He disappeared for a few seconds, only to pop back out and give the JHU a cheeky wave with a massive grin on his face.

Warnock loved playing the pantomime villain because it engineered a siege mentality with him and his players. I concur with cricketfield, a character who will be missed from the game.

I’ve always maintained that Warnock would be great company on an all-day sesh. It would be all garrulous bonhomie, stories about football, mayhap a bit of a scrap with some sailors on shore leave, and then a bloody good curry to see the evening out with a bang.

I must be one of a rare list who actually saw Warnock as a player (with Scunthorpe,) played for a few other clubs. A winger if I recall correctly.
