Dwight McSteal
I have been told today he has a 10 Million buy out clause in his contract
The same guy told me about Trippiers buy out clause before it was public knowledge.

Even if true, it doesn't mean he'll necessarily go for such a paltry figure.

So Burnley offered McNeill a new contract in January with a buy-out clause of £10m? Right......

I think a bidding war would brake out if that sum got accepted.
In fact I think we should buy him for that price.

Your not wrong, this will alert clubs who had no idea they could buy him for 10 million.
Ffs there are league one clubs that could afford that.

As at January 2019, he was under contract for two and a half years. He didn't have us over a barrel like Trippier did with only a year left and an established Premier League history.

Can anybody be bothered to trawl back through the board's history to find out who (if anyone) first mentioned Trippier's release clause prior to him leaving?
No? Then probably a good plan to claim you were the one if you're on a fishing expedition

Re: Dwight McSteal
If this story were remotely true, then we'd have had a queue of clubs offering us the asking price even last summer.
That we didn't suggests it isn't. We'll find out on first January because if it is remotely true we'll have the bids in the minute the clock strikes twelve.
My bet is that any release clause is an awful lot higher - several times higher. We'd get more than £10 million in outbof contract compo for Dwight and the club isn't daft.

If Dwight had a sell on clause that low (10m) then he would have been gone in the last window..... He signed a 4 year deal (with option for further 12 months)

I don't want this to be true as much as the next claret, but we do have a history of letting our better players go cheaply.
Also consider McNeils goal celebrations, he gesticulates like he's on the phone, maybe he is telling his agent to pull his finger out.

Which ones did we let go cheaply ( help yourself a bit here by not saying Trippier)
The clause is true but what he has missed out is if the buying club pay it all in one go we will chuck in Pope & Tarkowski too for free

Re: Dwight McSteal
There have been two or three threads around the Mcneil 'leaving' idea. Why? Are people bored? I know there's no PL this weekend but are people that bored they want to get themselves all depressed by discussing that which has not happened and not even been muted as happening? It seems to me some people go trawling on the internet to finding loose rumours based on nothing at all and then starting a thread to discuss it.
Has anyone actually seen an official report in any reliable media that this has even been discussed at any level whatsoever? You may as well discuss what the weather will be like on Christmas day. Sure, there is a better than average chance that he will leave one day, but I do believe that discussing it now is just a tad premature.
However whatever floats your boat - it's a free country.

I must say though, Dwight must have a great agent if he can get his client a massive payrise and a shockingly low exit clause all in one contract.
