Is Wood playing for NZ?
If so, will be interesting to see the matchup between him and Kev Long

I thought Woody was missing due to injury too but who knows the secret of the "All Whites" Magic BoxCoolClaret wrote:Is Wood playing for NZ?

Having seen how abysmal we were recently without Woody lets hope he doesnt get knackered, especially in a meaningless friendly

Yep, I'd far sooner Wood wasn't playing. Fingers crossed here!! (At least we don't have to worry about JBG getting injured on international duty....again!!! )

Long not given Wood a look in during the first half and Brady playing well according to our poster at the Aviva.

I watched the first half of the game and thought Brady did well in a No10 role on the right of midfield(or is that No8?). Always involved, crisp,.accurate passing and some good crosses. Didn't watch the 2nd half and honestly have no idea of the quality.of the opposition. Had to look to see if Wood was playing. Hardly touched the ball.ClaretTony wrote:Long not given Wood a look in during the first half and Brady playing well according to our poster at the Aviva.

Watched the game
Brady responsible for their goal dident defend his side ... stopped running when his man got past.
The odd cross but way below the standard he was at pre injury.
For me not the same player.
Will not be involved in game against Denmark.
Needs loads game time to improve.

Also watched the game. Kev Long had a great match, looking very comfortable in all he did. Thought Brady also did well putting in a few decent crosses - his goal assist was a corner which was well headed home. The opposition however was very poor - apparently they hadn't played as a team for over a year according to the TV pundits and were also playing under a new manager. As an attacking force NZ offered little though Wood did play an important part in the build up to their goal - playing a superb lay off with his back to goal. He was subbed before the final whistle but the NZ manager just appeared to be giving as many as possible a run out. Important thing is hopefully all Clarets survived injury free.

Fair enough. That's the way you saw Brady's performance. Bit harsh to blame an attacking midfielder for NZ goal though.Blyclaret wrote:Watched the game

Re: Robbie Brady captains Ireland
So last night on what was a very cold night indeed I must say .
One thing what I looked out for is that Chris wasn't caught offside in the whole match , he was on the pitch for around 75 minutes . He had limited service really .
Kevin , well have to say he was the best Claret on the pitch as he really took over at the back and very little got past him , now he did go on one run at the heart of the defence which I did think he would run past the lot of the defence but not to be .
Robbie , hey massive fan I must say , now in the first half he sprayed the ball around and did very well , yep was at fault with the goal as he didn't close the lad down and let him cut the ball back for their goal .
Looked tired in the 2nd half I would have taken him off after 60 minutes but Mick wanted him to have a full run out .
The best bit was when he took a corner next to the 50 NZ fans and they got on his back , anyway we scored from that corner and Robbie ran back over to the NZ fans with his hand cupping his ear .
So roll on Monday as Jeff will be playing , I can only see Robbie on the bench but I could be wrong .
