Grounds That Burnley Haven't Had Much Change From
Just reading the Michael Jolly thread and realised that over the years there have been some grounds were we always struggled to take points from
Grimsby Town Blundell Park
Ipswich Town Portman Rd
Barnsley Oakwell
Arsenal Emirates
What others have been an unhappy hunting ground

We’ve not won a game in Manchester since 1962 other than the Charity Shield at Maine Road

Molyneux was always the ground I didn't like. In spite of winning 3 of our last 10 visits our record there is Won 12 Drawn 11 Lost 43.
Villa Park was also never much of a happy hunting ground.

Re: Grounds That Burnley Haven't Had Much Change From
Villa Park used to be a dreadful ground for us but in league games against Villa there I've seen us win 3, draw 2, and lose 2. That goes back though to 1965/66.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote:Molyneux was always the ground I didn't like. In spite of winning 3 of our last 10 visits our record there is Won 12 Drawn 11 Lost 43.

Only been to Oakwell 3 times, but we've won 2 and drawn 1. All about timing.
I wouldn't like to estimate the number of goals I've seen us concede at City, old and new.

Only saw us win there once on a Tuesday night when Louie Donowa had a nightmare. We do have a 100% record at the new ground though.Lord Beamish wrote:Millmoor, Rotherham has always been a bit of a graveyard for us.

And it'll never improve now as it has been demolished. Actually the New York Stadium that replaced it is a very nice ground and really easy to get to.Lord Beamish wrote:Millmoor, Rotherham has always been a bit of a graveyard for us.

My older brother and myself always used to say that whenever the team had to travel east from Turf Moor results were often not the ones we were after. From the few replies so far our theory seems to have had some relevance.

Don't know how many times we played at Scarborough (can't be many) but I only saw us lose there.
1988?
And I think we got battered there a couple of years later, by three or four, though I didn't go to that one.

Up until the 80s Gigg Lane was pretty woeful
Terrible record
I remember an FA Cup game in the 70s and got beat 0-1 in that one
And i dont think Vale Park has done us any favours either
A lot of small town teams is there a pattern

We've hardly played at Gigg Lane in the league - only twice since 1946/47 and both ended in defeat.Longside4evr wrote:Up until the 80s Gigg Lane was pretty woeful

Same here for me with Ewood: been numerous times and have only once come back with a point. One year I got fed up with having to leave Wiltshire in time for the bus convoy and gave it a miss. Guess what: we promptly won for the first time in decades.Cirrus_Minor wrote:Used to hate going to Elland road. Missed the win, probably wouldn't have happened if I went.
And so next time around I decided to give it a miss again in the hope we might win there again. Guess what ....... we did.
I won't be going back.

Same here. I've never seen us win there.
If those figures are correct then they are very surprising.

Two league wins at Crewe in 1987/88 & 2001/02 - but also won there in the League Cup in 1984/85 & the Auto Windscreens in 1995/96 when Kurt Nogan scored a golden goal.Bin Ont Turf wrote:Same here. I've never seen us win there.

The moral of this story is, if we ever play Crewe again I should stay away.

We've had some real hidings at Man City in the last 20 years or so. Even going back to the Shaun Goater era, he used to love scoring against us!

We probably haven't played there that many times, but Plainmoor Torquay didn't seem to be a happy hunting ground.

In my early years Villa Park was our number one bogey-ground without doubt. Don't think we got a result there throughout the '50's and even in '60/'61 and '61/'62 in semi-finals there we failed to win.

I’ve thought we seem to go by regions. Currently we are doing very nicely on the South Coast(BHA,Saints & B’mouth). We seem to either win or lose to every team in Yorkshire over spells. Same with London, although at PL level the field is not flat.
