The Clangers
Heard on radio 5 at tea time that The Clangers are 50 years old this year. Too late
late for my generation but iconic TV for several generations.

Re: The Clangers
The soup dragon is my favourite because I am very fond of soup. I don't mind if it's red soup or green soup or even purpley-blue soup. The soup dragon makes all three

It was before my time too but they still had re-runs when I was little (a bit like how they still play Wallace & Gromit at Xmas). Loved it.

Clangers were OK.
The Trap Door was better though.

Re: The Clangers
It's great how the makers got away with slipping swear words in to the vocabulary of the characters, masked in their whistles and noises. One of the more noticable ones is where a Clanger tells The Soup Dragon to "p!ss off"

Oliver Postgate did some cracking stuff including his Nordic legends based on the Lewis Chessmen (found on the Isle of Lewis) Noggin the Nog (son of Knut King of the Nogs) and his wicked uncle (Nogbad the bad)THEWELLERNUT70 wrote:No, because Postgate had the words and sentences pre wrote down so that the whistling noises had a pattern to them
