Wage stagnation under the Tories has cost the average worker around £6,300 in lost wages.

• Food banks have given out 65 million meals in the last five years, the equivalent of a meal for every person in the whole of the UK.

• There are now over 20 million adults with no savings, an increase of nearly three million since 2010/11.

• A near 50 per cent increase in the number of children in severe low income and deprivation between 2011/12 and 2017/18.

• Poverty in families where someone is disabled has risen by over a million since 2010.

• In-work poverty has increased by 1.5 million since 2010/11.

Labour victory, if Burnley has any sense left.
Why a working person in Burnley would vote Conservative ever, remains beyond me. 10 years of whipping and still some do t want a better life?
Why anybody British would vote for the party of an anti- British, pro Russian, Terrorist symathising Marxist who will wreck the economy is beyond belief. Further, anyone with aspirations in life should heed this.

Can we try and keep this thread to the predictions, please ??
Plenty of other threads to debate the merits, or otherwise, of the parties ....

I’m astonished so many feel the Conservatives will get such a high percentage of the vote.

My guess as a someone who classes Burnley as “home”, but hasn’t lived there for many years:
Labour 34
Conservative 29
Lib Dem 19
Brexit 12
Green 4
BAPIP 1.5
Indy 0.5

Doesn’t seem like anyone was very close. The main thing I noticed was that most people massively overestimated support for the Lib Dems sand the Brexit Party.

I apologize for the delay in posting the Results, hectic weekend and a family issue has taken me away ...

Unless you've been living in a cave, you'll be aware that Conservative Antony Higginbotham took the Burnley seat with 15,720 votes, from Labour's defending candidate Julie Cooper ( 14,368 ). This overturned Labour's 2017 majority of 6,353, on a swing of Labour to Conservative of 9.7%. He's the first Tory MP to represent Burnley since 1910, the previous Conservative M.P. being Gerald Arbuthnot, who later lost his life in September 1916, at the Battle of the Somme.

Out of our 24 entrants, three stood head and shoulders above the others ....

" Crosspool Clarets " scored an impressive 13 points to come 3rd, the runners up spot went to " Dum Spiro Spero " with 12.1 points, but the winning entry came from our regular match-day thread instigator, " IanMcL " with a quiet superb 11.2 points !

Ian will have been disappointed at the outcome of the Election, I'm sure, being a Labour Councillor himself ! However, I hope this will be a small consolation to him ! Many congratulations, Ian ... If you could let me know which charity I should send your £25 winnings to, then I shall do the necessary .... :D :D

Blimey! I have been avoiding post election stuff, as I am still in recovery!
Thanks for bumping and quoting, as this caught my eye, as I check the quotes, as a matter of course.

Not sure how predicting the wrong outcome can be a winner, however, I am happy to claim the prize.

I think the most in the spotlight charity, of the moment, is the Foodbank, where Clarets are collecting on matchdays. If the prize can be 'spent' in this way, then that would be great.

Also, I am never equipped, on these collection days, in case I am left with tins and nowhere to place them!

So I am behind in my contributions!
To help the 'prize' have double the impact, at this vital time, if I can be supplied with a bank account, where I can transfer, I would like to match the donation with £25 of my own, if that is ok.

Thanks so much Clarets4me and thanks for persevering.

Keith's giving Nathan the £25 Prize money, together with the extra £25 kindly donated by our winner, IanMcl ! Love this good news story Keith is a very generous and giving person in fact he is on the video for Calder park when the friends group were attempting to get funding for the swings and also the pump track which both have been very successful
Yet again well done
