Defense dont look as assured in front of Pope as they normally do ahead of Pickford. Great run out for Pope but no way he's dislodging Pickford as #1 anytime soon

I'd like to see Pope a little bit more commanding on all these crosses, it's almost like they've told him to stay on his line

Re: Kosovo vs England
You mean the defence that leaked 3 goals at Southampton in front of Pickford, whoever plays in the backline England look suspect against half decent opponents, but unless Pickford is unavailable for any reason he'll remain first choice i agree.Devils_Advocate wrote:Defense dont look as assured in front of Pope as they normally do ahead of Pickford. He played for Albania when he was at Burnley, it was in an international for them that he did his cruciate. He’s since played for Kosovo.Funkydrummer wrote:Berisha - that brings back memories, if only short ones.

Ease the nerves.
They caused England problems at Wembley. 2-0 should do it.

Didn't notice that stat!
Just had a quick glance and saw how many he'd scored.
Good on him.

Er, would that be England’s greatest ever goal scorer Rooney, who anyway hasn’t played for England for quite a while now.bfcjg wrote:You can only beat what's in front of you and we did that. At least theres a freshness about us without the likes of the ego machines such as Rooney.

I would have liked him to come for a couple of crosses that were dieing out for the keeper to claim, but clean sheet will do him a world of good. Just a shame he will go as aback up in the summer when he could be training with the team.tiger76 wrote:Can't do anymore than keep a clean sheet,he wasn''t unduly tested, but he didn't like out of place in this company.
Re: Kosovo vs England
The tournament ends second week in July. Will hardly miss any time training with our squad. And it will be great for him personally being in the England squad for the finals.ClaretAL wrote:I would have liked him to come for a couple of crosses that were dieing out for the keeper to claim, but clean sheet will do him a world of good. He then he takes 2 weeks off on a well earned holiday, and then 2 weeks to be "Dyche Fit" which takes us fairly close to the knuckle and probably missed all of the team pre season.

Keepers don't need to anywhere near Dyche fit, they do however require the Billy Mercer seal of approvalClaretAL wrote:He then he takes 2 weeks off on a well earned holiday, and then 2 weeks to be "Dyche Fit" which takes us fairly close to the knuckle and probably missed all of the team pre season.

Re: Kosovo vs England
Hudson-Odoi is playing because of his Chelsea connection.
Its another example of media hype
He can sprint like Usain Bolt but has no awareness of his team mates and when to pass.He is one dimensional and decent defenders will give him nothing.
He also can't cross or shoot.Never international class in this lifetime

Yeah he’s back in Oz now playing for the new franchise called Western United, technically based in west Melbourne, but because they haven’t got a stadium yet, they’re playing for the next 3 years 50km away in Geelong.Buxtonclaret wrote:Yeah. Just looked. Scored a good few goals in their league.

England look like they know they are through and aren't risking injury. Pope looks solid.

Re: Kosovo vs England
Only watched the second half but it was obvious Southgate changed his defensive strategy possibly to protect Pope from having to play out from the back. From what I saw there was nary a back pass to Pope. Popey is a far better shot stopper than Pickford, but Pickford is head and shoulder s above Pope as far as a footballer is concerned. Pope kept a clean sheet, good for him. Pickford will be #1 for the foreseeable future. Popey will come back injury free, that’s the main thing.
