He once put Burnley fans through over half an hour of agony - but who is he?

He inflicted far more agony than an ex tannoy announcer could do

I'm not sure where the Leighton has come from but it is definitely Alan Comfort who scored Orient's goal against us in May 1987 and reduced the score to 2-1 and left us hanging on for over half an hour. He's now club chaplain at Leyton Orient.

It was the last game they actually played as Orient. They re-introduced the Leyton for the following season.

They were but then became Leyton Orient after World War II before dropping the Leyton part of it from 1966 to 1987 and then resuming with Leyton Orient.

A very classy player at that level. Skilful and tricky, maybe not the quickest

Did we have players that joined the clergy?

Someone mentioned Alan West. Wasn't Dave Merrington something like that? And Doug Collins?

That's a name for one of the entrances at the Trafford Centre - it's quite grand.

Don't think Dave Merrington actually became a clergyman although he was very involved with a Church in Burnley when he lived in the area. Got to know Dave through work...smashing guy. I think he still works for BBC radio Solent.
