Palace Game

I'm coming up for it. It'll be my first home game for around 2 years (due to living in Spain and health reasons) staying over night (Saturday) couple of beers pre-match then quite a few after. Any decent pub to go to after the match that will have something on?
Cheers. :D

I'm in the Travelodge. Think it's better for what I want to do. Would usually stay premier Inn but it's a bit cheaper with WiFi and brekky thrown in at the Travelodge. Cheap hotel for when I'll be getting drunk is my philosophy

Theres usually some motor racing up on Colne road from dusk.

Also bring your own twix up, or even several to sell on the black market. Pays for your trip then.

After the match can recommend a few beers in the Talbot, an Indian in the Shimla and then back to the Talbot for more beers and the band.

Another vote for the Bridge and then Talbot. Don't bother with the town centre it's a ghost town till midnight, even on a Saturday.

And after midnight it's full of "zombies", off their heads from the booze (and whatever else) they had before going out

I would stay around Yorkshire st for a couple of hours after the match as it it stays busy with the football crowds.
Plenty to go at.

Same here Stu!

First home game in about 2 years.

I'll be in the Bridge, Rifle Volunteer or 110 Club before the game.

Might give it a go.

I always gave it a miss before but that was a few years ago now and whoever is running it now is clearly doing so with a lot of passion and hard work. Maybe it still won't be my kind of boozer but I'll certainly give it a go.

I would certainly go in the Vintage Claret if you haven't yet.
Done a great job theming it with the clarets. They have used turnstiles from the Turf for the tables. Wooden seats from the CF end are used in the upstairs rooftop terrace/smoking area.
Lots of screens for the early kick off, but best to visit before 1.30 when it's not as busy.

Continentals
Belissimo
Both italian cafe types, very reasonably priced, and good food

Palazzo is an Italian restaurant, but a bit pricier and not necessarily better than the above IMO.

Shimla Spice is a great curry restaurant but probably wont be open pre match.

Theres also a food market that sells all sorts on stalls, Thai, Caribbean, currys, pizza, kebabs but I've not tried any, but always smells awesome and so much choice.

The Boot is a wetherspoons and is a little better place to eat than the main big one IMO if that's the sort of thing you're looking for.

The little Thai place down the side of Barclays is excellent for before the game, with the real ale bars within a couple of doors. What's not to like ?

Just want some grub to get me through to the evening then I'll probably try and find a place to eat that's a bit sexier. Thanks for suggestions.

Thai Aroy Dee always smell nice, then straight across to New Brew-m.

I always think of thyroid though when I see it.

They used to have an arrangement whereby you could take your Thai food into the bar when they were in the corner property. I assume you can still do the same with the new premises across the road.

As I say, what's not to like ?

Try crepes in the town centre accross from Costa coffee. It is a brilliant place for food (in my opinion) and you can still get a beer in there too. I had a full English in there other week and it's the best I've had in Burnley
