Surely we would shift majority of the rest on general sale

Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
Everton will want us to limit the allocation so they can have the top tier.
They sell to home fans at £49 an adult.

Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
As the 230 lower tier restricted view tickets haven't even been put on sale yet, that means that we haven't yet sold the first 1500 tickets. As the deadline is tomorrow I can't see any realistic prospect of us selling out all the lower tier (1730) by then and, therefore, we then wouldn't be taking the 1100 in the top tier.

Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
So we could sell 1700 by the end of today but even then they wouldn’t take the upper? We have to completely sell out a month away from the game? What is actually going on with the club? Why are they so stupid? Seriously, it’s terrible.

It is a very weird way of going about things. Referring to it as a "pre-sale" when in effect there is no substantive difference to the purchaser to tickets going on sale in the usual way, and not promoting the sale to any extent means it was always going to be a slow uptake. It feels a little bit like the club wanted an excuse not to commit, rather than make a decision. As others have said it would almost definitely sell out before the game, and any shortfall (if there was one) would be comparatively negligible.

200 unsold tickets at 30 quid a pop would be 6 grand. Can't risk having to pay that it would bankrupt us.Reckoner wrote:It is a very weird way of going about things. Where have you got 200 unsold tickets from?jrgbfc wrote:200 unsold tickets at 30 quid a pop would be 6 grand. Can't risk having to pay that it would bankrupt us.
The initial lower allocation is 1730 (1500+230 restricted view)
If we take the higher allocation of 2500 that 1100 at an upfront cost to the club of £33,000 - which we don't sell out, we wouldn't recoup.
Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
What he means is if there are some unsold it won't be many. We aren't going to take the upper tier and then not sell any in a month. Would the risk of a few tickets being unsold (unlikely) be worth it to have a larger support at the ground and keep the goodwill?

Isn't the problem though that people won't touch the 230 restricted view tickets if there is a chance of getting unrestricted ones in the upper tier?wilks_bfc wrote:Where have you got 200 unsold tickets from?

A catch 22 as the better upper tier ones won't be sold unless the first lot of restricted ones are sold.

I don’t normally like to criticise the ticket office as I’ve usually found them very helpful, but this is a ridiculous way of going about things and shows a total lack of understanding by the club of its own fan base.

Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
Given the number of non-ST fans who might well fancy aday out at Christmas, it seems the club just wanted to not take the bigger allocation or Everton didn't want to give it so they concocted something complicated and too far in advance so they could ensure they got what they wanted.
Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
Surely the club must be aware of that scenario of people holding back.Leisure wrote:But as you say, unless the lower sells out it looks like top tier tickets won't be an option.

Probably average it out £22-£25 IMO

I'm fairly certain that the PL have an agreed formula for ascertaining the cost of unsold tickets.MACCA wrote:Cant cost each one at £30, got to take into consideration kids and OAP/Senior/Student tickets

I must say that I'm really surprised that on the face of it, as the restricted view tickets haven't gone on sale yet, that means that we haven't even shifted 1500 tickets!

Theres plenty of reasons many listed on this thread.
When people make silly or strange decisions time and time again, it inevitably starts to have a negative impact

People don't want to buy tickets 5 weeks in advance. Especially when they've just forked out for Spurs away, it's a busy time of year etc etc.Leisure wrote:That we've apparently sold less than 1500? Yes, I am.
Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
Pay for them by credit card and you probably won't actually be paying for them 5 weeks in advance. With the game being over Christmas they would normally have gone on sale 4 weeks in advance, so not much earlier than usual. Also, Accy Clarets have got 230 booked on our coaches, so presumably not a big issue for those fans.jrgbfc wrote:People don't want to buy tickets 5 weeks in advance. Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
Don't think that's what it says in the PL Rules. Unsold tickets are to be paid for at the rate pro-rata to the sold tickets. So if the sold tickets were 80% adults and 20% U18's that's how the unsold tickets would be charged. But even then it probably works out around £28 per unsold ticket.ClaretTony wrote:Any unsold tickets that have to be paid for are at adult price

Many people are in big debt thanks to using credit cards in the way you suggest, not the best thing to do at this time of year for those who struggle to manage their finances... Just put it on the card, it'll be OK......Leisure wrote:Pay for them by credit card and you probably won't actually be paying for them 5 weeks in advance. How many of those booked on the coaches will cancel?

Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
Can you imagine some reactions to having to book a train up to 12 weeks in advance of traveling to get a decent price.
Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
I wasn't suggesting that people should go into debt, just that they can purchase tickets now without having to find the money immediately. Hopefully not many will cancel as I've contact the majority of them to check that they have already purchased tickets.Grumps wrote:Many people are in big debt thanks to using credit cards in the way you suggest, not the best thing to do at this time of year for those who struggle to manage their finances... Or as a gesture of goodwill the club could have given fans a bit of leeway and risked a very small financial hit. Yes, they could have done but they haven't. Even well off businesses don't easily take the risk of losing up to £30,000.jrgbfc wrote:Or as a gesture of goodwill the club could have given fans a bit of leeway and risked a very small financial hit. We're not exactly skint are we?

Wanted to take my partner with it being on boxing day, she doesn't have a season ticket so it looks like we are going to miss out.
With it being boxing day and only 60 minutes down the road for most I am confident we would shift the lot

Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
Now there's both the original ordinary tickets on sale online and now plus the option of restricted view tickets but don't know if all these are still lower tier?
Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
Are the restricted view tickets the same price?

No, they're £1 cheaper!jrgbfc wrote:Are the restricted view tickets the same price?

Maybe its because if we aren't taking the upper tier it doesn't matter what order the rest of the lower tier tickets get sold?Leisure wrote:Now there's both the original ordinary tickets on sale online and now plus the option of restricted view tickets but don't know if all these are still lower tier?

Good of Burnley to keep us informed. How hard is it to put something online along the lines of "we will not be getting anymore tickets for the Everton game, there is x amount remaining".

Can anyone tell us who has the final say on making these decisions, about not taking full allocators, asked Darren Bentley a number of times, but just get a not my department, and will pass it on to supporters liaison officer, and then you never get any feedback

Bizarre decision from the club....why not just pay for the 200 limited view tickets then take the upper tier which would easily have sold out in the month remaining
Re: ARTICLE: Everton tickets to go on pre-sale
Decisions on away ticket allocations are still a little bit secretive as far as fans are concerned. Granted we are now being given the total of our allocations for away games but as mentioned on this thread who does make the actual decisions on the amounts we take.claretcarrot93 wrote:Poor by the club.Still a month to the actual game yet. The Everton one does seem strange as the game is still a month away. Boxing Day game just 1 hours travel away, accepting less than 2000 tickets. Was it that much of a gamble for the club?

Everton need extra seats for their fans, that they can sell at £49 a seat (instead of 30 for away fans). They offer you the top tier but you have to pay for any unsold seats. Just looking out for their club/fans.
The big gripe for this fixture was selling restricted view tickets before normal ones in past years. Both clubs listened and got it sorted.

Was there an opportunity for non-season ticket holders to buy the pre-sale tickets?
