Tonight’s Blast from our Claret & Blue Past is....

Garreth O’Connor

Looked an exciting signing when he joined us, with his chum, Wadey. Got off to an excellent start with some solid performances and a few excellent goals. But then something happened and he seemingly went off the rails. What are you memories?

Wolves away 0v1 - one of the maddest nights of my life for non football related incidents so one I’ll never forget

Last time I saw him he was absolutely legless at the friendly in Dublin against Bohs. I reckon he must have nicked Coyle’s Irn Bru. And those were the rails he came off.

I thought he was better than that other O'Connor we had, who I never really rated.

Strange player, offered nothing of value to the team, but would chip in with goals when he played.

Looked better than Elliott when he first came the rest is history.

Another one to be filed in the drawer marked unfulfilled potential!

I think the step to the championship was a level too far for him. He had loads of skill, just like Wade Elliott, but he lacked Elliott’s inner steel. Elliott’s toughness, allied with a not too shabby amount of skill, made him a more-than-the-sum-of-his-parts player.

I remember thinking he was the better of the 2, but i think he showed that he also thought he was good, and probably didn't work, or want to work hard enough for the cause.

CT report above probably illustrates this

I'm still no nearer as to why that Coventry guy was sent off on the You tube clip and I've watched it several times. It was a comedy one though as he clearly wasn't happy (to put it mildly!!)

Ah memories! One of my favourite ever Burnley penalties. Gifton Noel Williams, quality!
