Great TV thread

Post by Burnleyareback2 » Thu Nov 21, 2019 11:22 pm

There has been some great TV recommendations on here recently, particularly Reggie in China and Cold Call.

Perhaps an on going thread for recommendations would help?

From me Start Up on Amazon and the Taken Series

' The Devil next door' on Netflix.

True life documentary about a seemingly respectable immigrant retired auto worker in the USA suspected of being a notorious WW2 Nazi death camp guard dubbed 'Ivan the Terrible' and tried for war crimes by the USA and in Israel during the 80's.

Harrowing in parts especially the testimonies of the death camp survivors but a thought provoking documentary and I'm still not 100% sure if the guy was 'Ivan' or not.

Stumbled across No Offence last night. A gritty Manchester based Cop drama with a good story line running through each series. A blend of brilliant characters with some really funny one liners.

I think it was written by the same person as Shameless and well worth a watch.

Available on demand Channel 4.

Watched these when they were on ch4 - enjoyed them. The guy off Friday night dinner is good - he’s good in pretty much everything he’s in.
Think ch4 have commissioned a fourth series so hopefully coming back soon.

I think it is excellent. It's so different from anything else on tv. A third series is currently being made.

Atypical on netflix. American comedy series, which means more smiles than laughs, set around an autistic lad and his family. Handles his problems and honesty really well.

If you set the default language to original on your Netflix settings then you can watch the programmes in their original language with subtitles rather than dubbing.

Really enjoyed this but gave up halfway through season 3 when it became obvious it had become a soap. The announcement of a season 4 proves this.

Really enjoying Glitch on Netflix and Treadstone on Amazon.

Treadstone is a series based on the Bourne films. Glitch- not sure how to describe it but I doubt any explanation would do it justice.

Enjoy #utc

Agree on this Fretters. I'm currently deep into Fauda on Netflix....excellent drama about the Israeli security forces hunting down Hamas bombers. Whilst it's an Israeli programme it's actually balanced in the way it presents the characters on both sides and I'd recommend for anyone who enjoys, say, Homeland.

You'll need a dodgy stream to watch it in the UK but the Mandalorian is ace!

Just started watching COBRA from Sky last night. Not sure yet but it's not what I expected.

Recently watched all 10 episodes of the Messiah on Netflix. Worth the effort. A bit unnerving though, that George Boyd is in there.
