That kid in the air could be me except I’ve never been on the pitch.
The kid on the right looks ready to shoot somebody.

Re: Impersonation of Turf Moor.
Leeds Rd (Huddersfield) and the Kippax side (Maine Rd) both had pretty much carbon copies of The Longside which I assume were constructed around the same time by the same firm to the same blueprint. Can you think of any others?
Re: Impersonation of Turf Moor.
It's a great pic that. Reminds me of the one from Old Trafford, think it's Leeds v Chelsea in the Cup Final replay. A kid is celebrating on the pitch, apparently he'd bunked off school and travelled up to Manchester to see his heroes without his parents knowing. It's one of my favourite images but I can't bloody find it anywhere. Anybody know the pic I mean?
Re: Impersonation of Turf Moor.
Leeds Road was a proper ground and v similar to Turf Moor. Glad I went to it. The new ground is just the kind of ground I don’t like as with Bolton and Reading. They look nice but lose something far greater.

They were all built by the same firm apparently. I always felt a bit at home at either ground. Odd that neither now exist.Dark Cloud wrote:Leeds Rd (Huddersfield) and the Kippax side (Maine Rd) both had pretty much carbon copies of The Longside which I assume were constructed around the same time by the same firm to the same blueprint. You just beat me to that house... my last memory of Leeds Road was in the early 90's about 92 or 93... my m8 Mike and I being in the back of a car and busting for a pee (4+ pints and an hour and a half in a car not a good mix). Walking to the ground from where we had parked in absolute agony, and the relief when we finally got to the toilets.houseboy wrote:They were all built by the same firm apparently. Cannot remember too much how the game went but am sure we drew 1-1. We always seemed to draw there, and win at home around that period

Re: Impersonation of Turf Moor.
That reminds me of a time in the 70s when I went to Upton Park. Got so p!ssed before the game I missed the first half because of sitting on the terrace with my head in my hands half conscious. Saw the second half but still not certain of the final score - all I know was it was a first division match somewhere in London.Bosscat wrote:You just beat me to that house... my last memory of Leeds Road was in the early 90's about 92 or 93... my m8 Mike and I being in the back of a car and busting for a pee (4+ pints and an hour and a half in a car not a good mix). Re: Impersonation of Turf Moor.
If Leeds not necessarily, Sprake had coarse, curly hair (like an Airedale Terrier) - could be his successor, David Harvey?evensteadiereddie wrote:Is the keeper Gary Sprake ?

i remember being at Leeds Road in the 1973 promotion season at the back of their longside with thousands of Burnley fans, and it feeling like a home game.

Stood on there as well that day. Afterwards stuck in traffic Huddersfield fans looking at car dealers stickers in car windows to see if they had Burnley or Lancashire dealers.Stan Tastic wrote:i remember being at Leeds Road in the 1973 promotion season at the back of their longside with thousands of Burnley fans, and it feeling like a home game.

When Mick Doc broke his leg. Which led to the Uwe signing. I think we won on that score.Stan Tastic wrote:i remember being at Leeds Road in the 1973 promotion season at the back of their longside with thousands of Burnley fans, and it feeling like a home game.
