James Tarkowski
Two assists, two cleansheets and a goal in the last two games. He absolutely should be in the middle of England’s defence ahead of Tyrone Mings.
Outstanding player (slip aside)

I'd have him in ahead of Mings, slip included!

Re: James Tarkowski
Quick reaction to follow up with his left after initial shot with his right
Just a shame he was incorrectly booked for that great challenge on edge of the area

The fewer of our players play for England the better for me. I prefer them to fly under the radar.

I’d have him ahead of Maguire, never mind Mings.

He wasn't booked for that, it was for the 'kind of' last man tackle.wilks_bfc wrote:Quick reaction to follow up with his left after initial shot with his right

That one you refer to was an abysmal decision though. Good job it didn't cost us!
Tarky been very good this season barring a wobble v sheff u.

No idea why I put that.
In my head I was saying “penalised” but for some reason typed “booked”

The commentary team on NBC stream I watched touting both Ben and Tarks for England duty ... in front of His Eminence Pope Nick the 1st

Why? I’ve always disagreed with that. Every Top club in the country knows who our good players areLord Beamish wrote:The fewer of our players play for England the better for me. I prefer them to fly under the radar.

Re: James Tarkowski
Englands issue is not being able to defend, other than VVD and possibly Johnny Evans I currently don't see 2 better "defenders" - they won't get a chance though because of average distribution unfortunately

Re: James Tarkowski
Our distribution is a fair comment though for me, you play to the style you want to see and long ball football doesn’t suit out world class players like Sterling & KaneVegas Claret wrote:Englands issue is not being able to defend, other than VVD and possibly Johnny Evans I currently don't see 2 better "defenders" - they won't get a chance though because of average distribution unfortunately

I didn't mention our style of play, I mentioned their distribution not being good enough for Southgate - defensively there aren't many better imhoBurnley1989 wrote:Our distribution is a fair comment though for me, you play to the style you want to see and long ball football doesn’t suit out world class players like Sterling & Kane
Re: James Tarkowski
Tarkowski nearly cost us a goal today, like he did against Sheff United. He needs to clear the ball, rather than try and play his way out of trouble.

Re: James Tarkowski
What are you disagreeing with then? I’m saying England’s Style of play is no long ball football, ie their distribution is to play out from the back without bypassing the best players on the pitch

Which answers the question of why he doesn’t get selected even though he’s a great playerSpijed wrote:Tarkowski nearly cost us a goal today, like he did against Sheff United. He needs to clear the ball, rather than try and play his way out of trouble.

Interesting that Mourinho got Spurs' first away win in a long time by 'bypassing their best players '.

He had a great game but was walking a type rope second half and i was concerned he was going to get a second yellow-
highlight was when he walloped the ball out of the ground over the 2 tier graham Taylor stand- class

So can we clone him?

It's those little lapses that get us beaten by quicker and better teams than Watford. We could, and should, have been one nil down at half time.

Also found it odd that the Arsenal back 5 were never the England back 5 when they were that good as a unit.

Tarko cost me £70. I had Wood first goal and 2-0 @ 70/1 ! I'll forgive him but he owes me a pint...

Re: James Tarkowski
It depends. Against Sheff United and Watford Tarkowski probably thought he could take a risk, and in most cases it probably would work. Whether wise to do so is another matter.boatshed bill wrote:It's those little lapses that get us beaten by quicker and better teams than Watford. However, against the likes of Man City I doubt even Tarkowski is going to try that. He'll probably boot it clear.
