Championship talent

Post by Newcastleclaret93 » Sun Nov 24, 2019 9:52 pm

few players I suspect Burnley are watching had good games this weekend:

Eze, Jed Wallace, Bowen

All had great games. For anyone that hasn’t seen Bowens first goal today, go take a look this guy is a special talent. Will defiantly be playing premier league football in February.

This Christmas will be the fourth window that I’ve banged the Bowen drum. I sense he will end up out of our price range. Would be perfect for us.

Where would Bowen fit in our team? Suspect he'll go somewhere that'll offer him starts, and you can't see him displacing Barnes or Wood here.

Weren’t Hull talking £30 million for him? I know one place he won’t be going if they are asking for that sort of money.

I liked Ampadu when I saw him, the other night. Very neat passer and gets stuck in.

Then I looked him up and he, too, is a Chelsea man out on loan!

Isn't he a left footer who plays on the right. With JBG unable to stay fit our right hand side could definitely do with strengthening.

Easy out wide as he is more of an attacking player than a striker.

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce wants Hull City's Jarrod Bowen, 22, and could test the Tigers' resolve with a January move for the English winger.

We need to pick players up before they become big news and then command over inflated fees. Cue Mr Rigg

It is highly unlikely that there is a single player is off any teams radar in any professional league. Also our status in the premier league raises the price because they know we can pay it.

Watkins Brentford would be worth a shout.

Bowen and Eze are the obvious talents but doubt we'll manage toget either.

Bowen scores again!

If we could get Bowen, Sawyers and a good right back, we’d have an excellent squad.

Diagnana is also a player that looks interesting at West Brom.

Think he is on loan from West Ham but he looks a top talent.

He's just what we need to give us that extra cutting edge but I think we missed the boat on this one. He'll be off to a bigger club for more than we're prepared to pay.

Not sure which club were linked with him in the summer but Hull were claiming to be wanting £30 million. How many clubs would be able to and pay that sort of money?

We shelled out £28m in 2017 (Brady in Jan, £13m & Wood in Aug, £15m), then £15m in 2018 for Gibson.

Surely our next major signing will top the £20+m mark, and Hull will definitely be interested in a bid of £25m.

Not sure what 2017 signings have to do with the next signing but I’m not expecting us to shell out £25 million on a player.

Simply pointing out the natural upward progression in fees paid out year on year.

Finance is now in place and signing Bowen for £25m will not overly stretch funds.

I wasn’t aware that level of finance was in place. I’ve not seen anything since the 2027/18 accounts.

For the first time in our history it's no longer necessary for us to sell players in order to finance a signing.

In any case if we agreed a fee of say £24 million for Bowen that would most likely be paid in three equal annual installments of £8 million.

I have a feelig that his agent will have been pulling out all the stops and that his value will be a lot more than £24 million. I reckon that they will now be asking £40 million --sad really!

Leicester are an obvious contender, they've got a manager who develops young talent, and Maddison is a prime example of a player who can make the jump from the Championship to the Prem.

Have and who earns what it gets a bit tedious.UTC!

It was more in the context of Brady is out of contract at the end of the season and Long is a player that could do a good job in the championship and he may want first team football soon.
It was a bit tongue in cheek - but we have a lot of decisions to make in the next 6 months on our current squad with many coming to the end of the contract and a few others who are not playing and it may be our last chance to get a fee.
There are around 7 or 8 players on our books you could argue we need to make decisions on or could / should leave (or may want to move on themselves).
Other than when SD arrived I think it could be the biggest period of change he has faced - and that’s without any clubs moving in for own prize assets which could easily happen in the summer.

There's plenty of young rejects not making it in premier league teams we could afford to snap up for similar pricing than what championship clubs now demand for players.

For me there's too many players that either become yoyos or just aren't good enough. You can be top scorer twice in your career in the championship and still not make a regular start like Vydra. There's just no value buying championship talent unless their contract is running out. We couldn't even buy a player from a team in financial turmoil.

I'd much rather see us signing youngish rejects from premier league clubs that we think have talent much the same as we do at youth levels.

I'd rather push the boat out for someone like Bowen and get genuine quality than keep taking punts on players like Vydra and Wells who are never going to feature. 15 million in transfer fees alone on those two, as well as a combined wage of 50-60 grand a week. Spend it on one player who actually improves us.

Thing is you never know what you are going get with the step up but i think we all knew with Wells that was a very strange signing yet Dyche never asked why - injured as well to start with
