Think we've missed the boat with Bowen now. Last summer was the time to try and do it.

It depends on finances. Only having 3 forwards, unless we can bring back Wells whenever we like (which I doubt), means should Barnes/Wood get injured for any length of time, we'd find ourselves without a forward on the bench.BOYSIE31 wrote:I couldnt agree more and that is why the lad Bowen would be ideal for us.
Except he's another left footer, which is not really (I don't think) our priority.BOYSIE31 wrote:I couldnt agree more and that is why the lad Bowen would be ideal for us.

Have you seen Charlie Taylor try to use his wrong foot ? Most of our team is one footed.
Or equally badly?BOYSIE31 wrote:But why ???
I play semi pro now and can use both feet equally well
Answer would be a younger guy who has shown potential in the lower leagues or from overseas - something which our recruitment team have struggled to find for a number of yearsjrgbfc wrote:Who is going to want to come and be our 4th choice striker though and play one game a season in the League cup?
The argument still stands though, how is there career going to progress? Barnes and Wood have just signed new deals and are nailed on to start, as well as Jay being 3rd in line. I wouldn't advise any young forward to come and sign for us tbh, after seeing what's happened to Gibson and Vydra.jojomk1 wrote:Answer would be a younger guy who has shown potential in the lower leagues or from overseas - something which our recruitment team have struggled to find for a number of years
The likes of Bowen will prob not want to come here - will be looking for first team action
You mean like Nahki?Answer would be a younger guy who has shown potential in the lower leagues

Wells was 27 when he came to us - not exactly a youngsterLord_Bob wrote:You mean like Nahki?
Lennon's contact is up this summer as well. With Hendrick potentially leaving also centre mid and right midfield are definitely areas we need to be looking at.Firthy wrote:If we are in a decent position come Jamuary I really can't see us buying many if any new players. But selling Vydra and putting the money towards a new winger/midfielder would be a bonus. With JBG'sand Brady's fitness problems then it is the one area we would struggle if we got any injuries. So breaking the bank to get Bowen or Eze would be decent business.
I'd be very surprised if Hendrick doesn't re sign and leaves, as I don't think he'll get loads of (better) offers at "better" clubs tbh, so I'm fairly sure he'll be with us next season. As for Lennon, he won't be getting many tempting offers either, but I'd be extremely disappointed if we attempted to keep him on as I feel he brings little and we need to look for better.jrgbfc wrote:Lennon's contact is up this summer as well. Yup, we're at the point where we need to start thinking about how we regenerate the squad.jrgbfc wrote:Lennon's contact is up this summer as well. With Hendrick potentially leaving also centre mid and right midfield are definitely areas we need to be looking at.
I think there'll be quite a few clubs attracted by the idea of Hendrick as a cheap supplement to their squad myself.Dark Cloud wrote:I'd be very surprised if Hendrick doesn't re sign and leaves, as I don't think he'll get loads of (better) offers at "better" clubs tbh, so I'm fairly sure he'll be with us next season. We should not be in the market to spend large sums of money on "back up" players - we have been doing this for the last two yearsboatshed bill wrote:The ongoing problem, we have to spend a large sum of money on our back-up players. The sooner we can supplement the squad with our own lads the better (obviously).

Yes, we are still in the Prem but our squad is getting seriously older now (a good number are now contracted until well into their 30's)
If we are to remain so, then an injection of new, younger players into the starting 11 needs to be seen in the next few windows
