Fat and useless and irritating like a spot on the arse, but didn't affect the result. (Thank goodness)

Re: RATE THE REF - Jon Moss v Manchester City
I don't really get these rate the ref posts.... Surely it's got to be easier to judge the ref in each discipline on the same basis we do on the player ratings (3-10). For example, why would you score a ref 6? Why not 7? Or 5? I'm not sure what people are basing a score on? Some people score 19.....surely you'd just give a score of 20, wouldn't you? An equivalent of a 4/5. Is it just some supporters being a bit pretentious about their knowledge of refereeing?

This was a pretty easy game to referee given our supine performance but, credit to Mr. Moss, he didn't cock it up.

Re: RATE THE REF - Jon Moss v Manchester City
Thanks for the feedback. The reason for the 25 scores are because when I thought of the feature, I took advice from a former football league official, who talked me through the different criteria used.
Back in those days I think they used five different assessment criteria, each scored out of 20, thus giving a total score out of 100.
He recommended that I kept it to 4 criteria and scored the referees out of 25, again resulting in a total score out of 100.
There’s no attempt to be pretentious and generally the feature seems to have worked well for the last 12 or 13 years. Changes have been made every now and then, so feedback is appreciated.
Best wishes.
John

Re: RATE THE REF - Jon Moss v Manchester City
Unless I've missed something (and apologies if I have), the numbers don't really have any consistent meaning. For example, you might think the ref's fitness and positioning was average and give 16 out of 25 whereas I might think it was also average but give him 10 out of 25. Is there some kind of key/guide as to what the numbers mean?jdrobbo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 5:25 pmThanks for the feedback.
