The Long Throw-In

Post by Moorite » Fri Dec 06, 2019 8:20 pm

Just watching the Millwall Vs Forest game and the distance Forest get from their Throw-Ins is massive. Almost as good as a corner.

I'm surprised we haven't tried to go down this route considering how much SD likes the long ball.

I remember Eddie trying it with Trips and Mee where it would be a long throw to Vokes at the near post.

Who started doing it a couple of seasons back for us?

Seem to remember us doing a fairly long throw for a little while.

It’s an art. We mustn't have the player to chuck it that far.

Being able to successfully take a short thrown would be a start

A long throw would give us yet another opportunity to give the ball away.

Trippier was good at long throw-ins.

Yes you're right. But I was thinking a bit more recent.

Hasn't Bardsley had a do at it?

I may be mistaken about all this though.

Foul throws are now rife.It seems lifting a leg up while running to throw in ok as is playing the ball in front the throwers head rather than releasing it from behind
Has the rules changed re throw ins

I remember Rory Delap being very good at this for Stoke. Not sure of how many were involved in a goal though.
Once, the opposing keeper kicked it out for a corner instead of a throw-in as they were less dangerous!
