In fairness that's probably not so. There will be about 46 of them, all in mint condition. And he had plenty of time to find a marker pen and scribble his name.FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 2:19 pmhttps://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 3465390798

Wondering what exactly the poster was looking for on eBay when this rare gem was discovered.
Now I’m wondering how he got hold of this shirt in the first place.

And the highest paid by some distance. Finally released by Eddie Howe after playing 59 mins in three years.gawthorpe_view wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 4:13 pmOur highest paid player in the Prem first time around.

Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
Would love to know the story behind his time at the club. I don't believe it's purely down to him not being good enough. He had a good pedigree prior to joining us and there were times whilst he was at the club where we were short in midfield and he could've been used.
If he was on so much money you'd think there would be some degree of pressure from the board to at least include him in cup games etc.

Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
I reckon he was on an appearance bonus hence never used and we didn't feel he was good enough to justify the cost of letting him play.

Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
How much was he on then? He was on loan for 2 of the three years (a lot like Wells) so doubt we paid anywhere near his full wages for majority of his contract.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 11:53 amAnd the highest paid by some distance. Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
Wasn’t he on loan at small clubs in Denmark or Norway? Doubt we would have got much. I was told by a very reliable source that he was still far and away our highest paid player even then.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 12:54 pmHow much was he on then? Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
The fist loan Id guess we may have covered most if not all his wages but we were in the Championship then so whilst being top earner our wages cant have been to big compared to where we've gone to in the last decade.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 1:02 pmWasn’t he on loan at small clubs in Denmark or Norway? The second loan was an 18 month loan which took on the rest of his contract so its likely that most of his contract would have been taken over on a deal like that.
What are the figures you have heard he was earning when he signed? Just the bracket you have heard will do say 5-10k, 10-15k, 15-20k?
Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
I’m sure the amount he was paid pales into insignificance compared to what we paid Walters ( yes I know he was injured) Crouch, S Reid and Lennon. It was very strange though.

As a figure you're probably right, but as a % to turnover I bet you're well wrong.

Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
Without having the facts and figures its difficult to say but I find it hard to believe a player signed for Burnley in 2008 when the Premier League wasnt even a dream never mind a reality earned a wage that put a dent into the millions of revenue we gained for getting in the Premier League that first time.duncandisorderly wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 1:42 pmAs a figure you're probably right, but as a % to turnover I bet you're well wrong.
It was an awful signing but as we've seen with Dyche and every other team bad signings happen but its what the sum of all the good and bad achieve and the year we signed Remco we had one of the most successful seasons ever so why people still go on about it like its one of the worst things to happen to the club is baffling.

In support of what your saying Tony.
Barry Kilby at Earby clarets Q and A a year or two after Judas left was asked about Judas.
He replied that “ Remco and Penny were the top earners at the club” Judas had left the club with that millstone round its neck.

Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
Cheeky Bid! Loved watching him in that initial Premier season
Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
Claret Tony has given you the facts, frequently. Van der Schaff had a huge pay rise built into his contract.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 2:12 pmWithout having the facts and figures its difficult to say but I find it hard to believe a player signed for Burnley in 2008 when the Premier League wasnt even a dream never mind a reality earned a wage that put a dent into the millions of revenue we gained for getting in the Premier League that first time.

Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
Ive not seen any facts about how much he was on when signed in 2008, how much he was on in 2009 and any facts about the details of the deal with Brondby taking him on for the last 18 months of his contract in Jan 10
What I suspect is that we spent a lot more money on players like Reid, Sordell, Walters and Wells.
As I said before he was a bad signing alongside a lot of good signings that made the club millions in Premier League money so absolutely baffling people are still so hung up on him

Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
Perhaps someone should consider the millions the club has made when making regular snipes about Walters then, if using that as a defence for Remco

Re: Remco Van Der Schaaf
If thats aimed at me then my problem was not about the money wasted on Walters but that genuine criticism of him and the signing itself was not allowed.
The nonsense people posted to make out he wasn't a poor signing was ridiculous and I got posts deleted for just highlighting that fact
As a result I do like to make Walters the butt of some of my more playful posts but as for sniping I'll leave that to you as thats all you seem to do in what must be a very sad little world

Are we distinguishing poor signing from poor player?
