Pep Guardiola: 'Man City might not be able to compete with top teams'
"That is the level we face against Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus. They are the teams we have to face and the reality is maybe we are not able now to compete with them.

Perhaps he's just not being given enough money to spend in the transfer market, as he's not spent much since he arrived.

£528m net spend since he took over, almost £100m more than Man U. But only £453m more than Liverpool. He also didn’t sign De Bryune, D Silva, Sterling, Aguero, Kompany, Fernandinho. Ederson, B Silva aside his signings are proper ****.

Just think there will be a bluenose boysie on some city forum moaning about Pep saying we have no money
Re: Pep Guardiola: 'Man City might not be able to compete with top teams'
Will probably bugger off to Bayern or Juve where he's guaranteed to win the league, rather than face a bit of a rebuilding job at City.

What a tool. I hope they suffer an early exit from the Champions League knockout rounds too.
Surely it's time for him to unleash Phil "the best player I've ever seen" Foden on the Premier League? Or maybe just blow another quarter of a billion in the next transfer window.

He has produced some brilliant teams playing scintillating football, none more so than last season.
Cut him some slack if he wants to whinge a bit

Re: Pep Guardiola: 'Man City might not be able to compete with top teams'
All this net spend stuff is nonsense, just because they get some cash back for their mistakes doesn't make them smart in the market
Re: Pep Guardiola: 'Man City might not be able to compete with top teams'
Tell Pep not to worry, when they sack him he can come and manage little old Burnley after SD has moved on.
Re: Pep Guardiola: 'Man City might not be able to compete with top teams'
Not smart in the market? Are you really, honestly sure about that?SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 5:22 pmAll this net spend stuff is nonsense, just because they get some cash back for their mistakes doesn't make them smart in the market
Mignolet
Clyne
Skrtl
Sakho
Moreno
Can
Leiva
Milner
Lallana
Coutinho
Origi
Started Klopps first game. Spending only £75m (net)
Allison
TAA
Van Dijk
Lovren
Robertson
Fabinho
Henderson
Wjladum
Mane
Firmino
Salah
Not smart in the market hahahahaha
Only Coutinho was a “loss” but even he’d struggle to get a game in that team now.

Re: Pep Guardiola: 'Man City might not be able to compete with top teams'
This is rubbish from Pep,both Ajax and Tottenham have proven that you don't need to break the bank to compete, the jury will be out on Pep until City win the CL, marks remain over his defensive signings and organisation as well.Kompany wasn't replaced in the summer,Silva's coming to the end of his City stint, and Arguero's picking up more niggling injuries, that squad which dominated a couple of seasons ago is ageing and crucially may have lost it's hunger.
Whatever happens with City's season there will have to be a big turnover in their playing squad, and Pep might be lowering expectations about incomings.

Re: Pep Guardiola: 'Man City might not be able to compete with top teams'
I thought that Manchester City had up to now been gifted £1.5 from a vicious, totalitarian state. Perhaps the ethical basis of Manchester City's success is what he finds so troubling.

Pep should focus more time on his own team's failings and less time whining about the fixture list.
