Ben Pearson
At PNE good in the tackle and reads the game with good passing range a bit wild but commits technical challenges for fun
New right back?

Re: Ben Pearson
He should have been sent off tonight. He was very lucky. His disciplinary record is poor to say the least.

Re: Ben Pearson
Good player that I’ve long wanted us to sign, think he would provide real competition to Cork.
His disciplinary record has been notoriously awful however.

Re: Ben Pearson
Average Championship player at best,we've already got several of those clogging up our squad,no point wasting money on more deadwood, also he's contracted till 2021,so they'd be looking for 10m or so i'd guess.
Re: Ben Pearson
Correct, he should and to say his disciplinary record is poor is a massive understatement! He would be better off playing rugby!Goodclaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 8:40 pmHe should have been sent off tonight. He was very lucky. His disciplinary record is poor to say the least.

Re: Ben Pearson
Be interesting to see if he manages to stay on the pitch!
Re: Ben Pearson
But can he tippy-toe slowly around the pitch, get blown off the ball by the lightest of challenge, not be able to see see or play an attacking pass, and generally always look to turn backwards and pass to Ben Mee? If “no”, then he’s not as good as Jack Cork, so forget it.

Re: Ben Pearson
Two sent off in this game but for the life of me I don’t know how Pearson stayed on. His disciplinary record is shocking.

Re: Ben Pearson
And he now should have had a second yellow. Amazing he's still on the pitch. He's a liability doing that type of challenge whilst on a yellow.

Poor stuff is the PNE/Fulham game.
Nugent misses a great chance.
Edit...Nugent scores.2-0

Re: Ben Pearson
Ok, you may not rate Cork for those alleged reasons but that is a fair insult to a very good player. If you can't see any positives to JC then you clearly have an agenda. Do you really think Dyche would play him if he offered so little?bfcwest wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 8:58 pmBut can he tippy-toe slowly around the pitch, get blown off the ball by the lightest of challenge, not be able to see see or play an attacking pass, and generally always look to turn backwards and pass to Ben Mee? We need to sign a midfielder good enough to walk straight in the team.jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 8:41 pmGood player that I’ve long wanted us to sign, think he would provide real competition to Cork.

Re: Ben Pearson
No idea what Dyche thinks, but I’ve been watching Cork week in, week out for years and I can see clearly he’s getting worse and offers very little. He’s weak, negative and very slow. Westwood missing has finally shown how limited he is, but some of you are clearly watching a different gamebfcwest wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 8:58 pmBut can he tippy-toe slowly around the pitch, get blown off the ball by the lightest of challenge, not be able to see see or play an attacking pass, and generally always look to turn backwards and pass to Ben Mee? Re: Ben Pearson
We've been saying this for the last few windows, but now Defour's gone and Hendrick's out of contract in the summer this is essential,if not in January then definitely in the summer,Westwood has carried our midfield for far too long, and his absence has highlighted our shortcomings in this area.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 9:03 pmWe need to sign a midfielder good enough to walk straight in the team.

Re: Ben Pearson
Not disputing that but how much would that cost? I think any big signings for us will always have an element of ‘gamble’ about them as we don’t seem to be able to sign clear Premier League ready upgrades for our first 11.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 9:03 pmWe need to sign a midfielder good enough to walk straight in the team.

Re: Ben Pearson
Seen him a number of times on the tv now. Still waiting for him to show.me why he would be worth the figures being put about for him. He's no better than what we have. It would be a huge waste of money (and he's clearly a liability).

It costs what it costs. It's just wasting signing a squad player.jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 9:26 pmNot disputing that but how much would that cost? It's very rare that a squad player or sub affects the game for us.
The stronger bench hasn't really helped much, certainly in context to extra cost.
And yes I know everyone wanted a stronger squad.

Re: Ben Pearson
There’s no agenda, Cork has been good for this club. His race is now run, he’s too lite weight, he’s not got the athleticism needed to compete nor the technical base to compensate.Goodclaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 9:03 pmOk, you may not rate Cork for those alleged reasons but that is a fair insult to a very good player. All managers have blind spots with players, he’s currently Dyches. I bet he looks lovely on paper, KMs covered, touches, pass retention and so on, but how does he affect play?

Re: Ben Pearson
Cork has got worse whilst other midfields have strengthened. Net effect is our recent drubbings.
Time for Burnley to (say it quietly...) sign a new bloody central midfielder. Surely there is a decent one somewhere?

Re: Ben Pearson
Pearson has to foul his way to keep his head above water in the Championship and when he doesn’t he gets booked for dissent.

I believe we will sign a premier league ready midfielder in January and I believe he already has a squad number. It may, however, just be a loan until the end of the season.

Absolutely spot on.
He’s too slow for the Championship, which is why when he loses possession he lunges into tackles.Nowhere near a Premier League Player
