That’s a relief! Particularly Westwood.

Certainly do. Could do with all three points against Newcastle after the last few games.

Westwood in particular has been sorely missed in the middle.

Westwood missed Newcastle away last season and how we missed him, 2-0 in an abysmal performance, hope he turns it on this Saturday.

I wouldn't say we particularly miss Barnes, it's full back and centre mid where we're struggling.

Positive news, especially Westwood, but I really wish Taylor was fit.

A real boost to have these two back. The full back areas are a concern after some recent rancid performances. No options so the same players have to play.

I think it's a huge loss when we don't have the Barnes-Wood partnership.

Yep for whatever reason we're a different animal with these 2 up front,i don't know what our win % is when one or the other is out,but i'd wager it's not high.

You may not miss Barnes but Wood does.

Problem is when Barnes plays we end up lumping it long constantly. Don't think Newcastle's 3 big lads at centre back will mind that at all.

Strangely enough I think we tend to lump it more with just one up top.

Jay Rod could yet hit his stride with Wood and keeps the ball down a bit . Westwood and Drinkwater would be good but unless he starts it looks like DD is back to Chelsea surely .

Agree with this. Wood up top on his own isn’t effective.

JR not really been given enough game time or service but if Barnes is indeed “ way ahead of JR” it speaks volumes for where we’re at right now . Though in a fully fit team I’d have Wood/Barnes all day

Agreed. JR is a decent potential impact sub later on in the game.

I've said often that if you're going to play only one up front, then it really has to be Barnes (if fit) He can hold a ball up and he's much more mobile AND he can buy those cheap (joke) free kicks. Wood is hopeless on his own up top.

Encouraging news from the BBC website too re Newcastle's team news for tomorrow (and they're missing Matt Ritchie too who I think is a very good player for them).

Newcastle United forward Allan Saint-Maximin has been sidelined for a month with a hamstring tear, while Ciaran Clark is also ruled out.

Jonjo Shelvey and Miguel Almiron are both doubts with respective calf and hamstring problems.

AW returning would be like getting two players back. We'd restore quality and balance to our midfield. Barnsey would be great to have back as well.
