Thing is, every single one of them will probably profit from a Tory government more than you will. Rich socialists only get less rich when the socialists get in.

The irony... Canterbury votes Labour and Burnley votes Conservative. The charge of the Heavy Brigade won out against the Russians! Proud to be from Burnley.

The thing about being one of lifes losers Marty, is , when you are one, accept it gracefully.
So I'm lead to believe.

What have I lost? Everything in my life is exactly the same as it was yesterday. If the election of a Tory government means I lose something at some point then it won’t be discriminating on party lines over who else loses, it may be you too.RingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:22 amThe thing about being one of lifes losers Marty, is , when you are one, accept it gracefully.

This is true. It’s nice if people practice what they preach. Many ‘rich’ socialists haven’t really thought out the consequences of socialism. Prescott’s lifestyle was never in tandem with what he was preaching.

National sovereignty.
The ability to make laws of the British people, by the British people, for the british people without foreign , politically motivated, interference.
To be an outward looking country trading with the big wide world, not being hamstrung by myopic and parochial little Europeaners.
And reinforcing what should be everysingle nations right. Proud patriotic self-determination.
To be able to control who is allowed to enter this country. And not continue to believe it's our prerogative and god given right to Hoover up other nations young ambitious workers taking them away from their homelands. In order to satisfy the insatiable demands of exploitative employers for cheap zero hours and minimum wage cannon fodder , like the odious Mike Ashley. Instead training our own youngsters up and giving them decent conditions, pay hope and ambition.
As last nights result proves-
You may say that I'm a "dreamer"

Being a socialist does not mean you cannot have money or a good job.
You can have socialist beliefs that you want a fairer distribution of wealth in society and that you are prepared to pay more in taxes to help facilitate this.
I'm not sure what you want the "rich" socialists to do....give up their jobs and go and live on Universal Credit ?
What's a better option - every man for himself or live abroad like Lewis Hamilton and avoid paying as much tax as you can....as you are holding up the British flag and thumping your chest in pride ?

One of the most vitriolic hate campaigns ever endured by a British party leader, which unfortunately too many people swallowed. That's what his excuse is. We now have the rather comic scenario of Boris the Buffoon leading us for the next 4/5 years. You couldn't make it up. At least we might get Brexit done now.
If aliens invaded Earth and said take us to your leaders and met Trump and Johnson they wouldn't be able to walk for laughing.

Here's something else you couldn't make up - a poster complaining about abuse of a party leader and in the next sentence calling a party leader a buffoon.houseboy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 12:57 pmOne of the most vitriolic hate campaigns ever endured by a British party leader, which unfortunately too many people swallowed. Re: Hugh Grant! Jim Royle! Little Mix! Gary Neville ! Norris McWhirter! Michael Foot!
I am a lifelong socialist. I don't mind people being rich, the two are not exclsuive, it's how people get rich that matters and what they do after they get it.
My party lost last night. I won't lose any sleep because that is democracy and that is what the remainers should also believe.
Brexit will now happen (good) but it's a pity that the government for the next 4/5 years has been decided on, basically, a one issue election.
The good thing is that hopefully soon those clowns outside parliament with their 'foreign' flags will be gone. They couldn't accept democracy but took full advantage of the freedom to do what they did, in some countries they would have been shot or attacked for bearing foreign flags in public like that.
Life is strange but democarcy can be stranger.

I've come to the conclusion that Boris is just one of those very lucky people in life.
Just look at what he has said and done in his personal life and his career and yet not only does he get away with it time after time he kept on getting promoted.
He had the incompetence of Teresa May to help him along his way....and open up the leadership contest.
His biggest rivals in the leadership contest were the most hasted minister of health in history and Micheal Gove - probably the most hated weasel of a politician in the last decade....an easy victory for Boris.
He was then fortunate enough (but clever enough to call it) to be in an election campaign against the worst labour leader and shadow cabinet in the last hundred years who were backed up by a set of momentum nut jobs who could not have got their election strategy anymore wrong.
And he then had a a helping hand from the Nigel Farage who gave him an open goal by standing down most of his candidates.
And to top it off just over the pond he has his old mate Donald....probably the only person who is more of a liar and fruit cake than Boris himself.
So we have got Boris for the next 5 or possible 10 years....holy sh-it....i`m just grateful that its not going to impact on my life whatsoever. Ironically it will make me better off - which is not something I wanted or voted for. The bit I am saddened about is the impact it will have on the younger generation and the millions living on the breadline....their lives won't improve for the next decade and will very probably get even worse.

What a ridiculous post. Boris is a buffoon but for what it's worth I actually quite like him in a way. To call someone in fun a buffoon is nowhere near like a sustained attack for years by the media and in the public eye accusing someone of racism and anti-semitism. If you can't see the difference I feel sorry for you.
Re: Hugh Grant! Jim Royle! Little Mix! Gary Neville ! Norris McWhirter! Michael Foot!
As you well know houseboy, is talking about, the Sun, Mail, Express etc. Not a single poster on a football message board. I’m going to judge the media campaign by this single yardstick. Anti-semitism in the Labour Party. Let’s see how bothered the media are about it in six months. My bet is their ‘ interest’ in it will sink without trace.

No one can ever say whether Labour would be smug as winners or not, they certainly can't be accused of being poor winners, can they? Yet they are certainly poor losers and seem proud about it and defending there leader and policies that has resulted in a horrendous result, how can anyone take these people serious?

I thought the two major celeb endorsement that turned it Labour's way in the north and midlands were probably Lily Allen and Stormzy.
Stormzy shared a video on Twitter in which he said: “Today it’s very, very important that you vote. Man’s never voted, man’s always looked at politicians and thought, ‘I don’t trust you lot. You lot don’t do nothing for man in my community and my circumstances or my mum’s circumstances’, but for the first time in my 26 years of life, there’s a man who man trusts. For me, it’s very clear cut: Jeremy Corbyn is a man of hope, a man of justice, a man of equality. The other guys are ******* pricks so don’t be stupid, bruv, go use your vote.”

As a remainer who accepted leave it will be a relief to get it done. Will be interesting to see how Johnson goes from here. With his majority he can if he wishes 'soften' Brexit which some commentators seem to think is his preference. Whatever happens now he's got a clear run at it and if there are any bumps in the road there's no-one else to blame anymore.
Regardless of who wins or loses a strong opposition is imperative to hold the government to account. What's more we've Conservative MPs in areas they've never governed before which will require something quite different to how they go about things in their traditional heartland. You sense the likes of Rees-Mogg would struggle to find half the seats they've gained if you asked him to point them out on a map of the Midlands and the North.
In some respects, it's better long-term that Labour lost big as a means of forcing change. Another near/nearish miss and we'd have carried on with more of the same which patently isn't working and would consign them to political oblivion. There is an opportunity now to redefine the party and make sure it works to reconnect with hundreds of thousands of lost voters and to understand the issues of 'Workington Man' as opposed to the (often justifiable) view that they have become out of touch with reality and far too London-centric.

Rather feeling that Boris won't have any option but to soften his deal as the European Parliament know that he is running to a very tight schedule. Cue back down on fishery policy and other areas."Phase Two will see the arduous task of agreeing the future relationship between the two sides. Something Boris Johnson promised voters would be signed, sealed and delivered by this time next year. EU leaders were expected to call later on Friday for a broad, ambitious, comprehensive trade deal with post-Brexit UK. But I've not met anyone in EU circles who believes that that will be possible by December 2020.
But plain sailing this is unlikely to be. Brussels plans to insist that in order to get that "quick and dirty" deal, the prime minister would have to sign up to EU conditions: alignment with EU environmental, state aid and tax regulations for example. Katya Adler
