A big opportunity if we can win tomorrow

Post by FCBurnley » Fri Dec 13, 2019 5:11 pm

Just been looking thru this weekends fixtures. A lot of tough games for teams in the bottom half. Newcastle at home is certainly winnable although they are on a good run. 3 points will hopefully lift us back into the top half. UTC

Bruce will play 3 CB's to combat the hoof ball
Shelvey and Hayden look a much stronger centre mid than Cork and A N Other
Thankfully they don't seem to have many goals in the side
Need Barnes back up front for the long ball with Jay Rod wide right if Westy not fit
0-0 most likely or either side to win by the odd goal 1-0

Well apparently they have 7 first team players out tomorrow

Lascelles
Clarke
( that's both CB )
Ki
Shelvey
Richie
Almeron
St Maximan

About time we played a side down to the bare bones.

Shelvey and Almeron more likely to play - unfortunately, says SSN
Bruce considering playing Joelinton out wide !

It depends on which players, if any, we have returning.

I'm very confident about tomorrow. Expecting a performance after the last 2 no shows, similar to the West Ham game a few weeks ago.

If Shelvey plays we might struggle,I would love this guy in our midfield I think he's very underrated,if he's out injured I'll go for a win for us....there center forward Joelinton is absolutely useless.

If Westwood and Barnes come back then we have an excellent chance.

The most enjoyable part of BBC's election coverage last night .....our future PM biting the dust at the first hurdle. :D

Absolutely if they both return, our starting XI looks a different proposition,it's vital we collect the 3 points tomorrow,as following the Geordies,we visit Bournemouth and Everton, before Man Utd come to town.

Big big game today

Interesting stat in Mail today, Newcastle have lowest possession rate in prem at 34%,(also only team not to have more possession than opponents once!) us 2nd lowest at 38%
Hoping shelvey and almiron not playing, barnes westwood are :)

They had 52% to our 48%.

I can't remember the last time we had more possession than the opposition, but it's very rare in the Prem. Presumably they don't count the ball being in the air as possession.
