Post by pushpinpussy » Sat Dec 14, 2019 6:23 pm

Burnley stopped their opponents from registering a shot on target for the first time in their 207 Premier League games.

well done to all the team. worked very hard in difficult conditions. excellent result and just what we needed.

It doesn’t have to be pretty to be enjoyable, this was attritional football where two teams cancelled each other out on a miserable day with nit picky ref. I’ll take the win every day and I’ll be back for the next one.

Amazes me that all people care about is winning regardless of weather what they are watching is any good. Each to their own, I’m not arguing with anyone

To be fair, I think today was a game when the points mattered above anything else. We're past halfway (reckon 37-38 will be enough), but after the previous 3 games we needed 3 points desperately.

It wasn't lovely football, but second half I thought we did okay. The ref didn't help things with constantly stopping play for niggly stuff and Newcastle were on the floor far too often.

I genuinely don;t think it was as bad as some folks are making out, defensively we were very good and we had a couple of lovely moves.

Shocking game, you could tell they had 7 possible first teamers out.

Thank goodness we managed to scrape the win.

Conditions didnt help, but I cant have watched too many games on the turf that void of any quality

The weather, the ref & Newcastle’s “tactics” didn’t make for conducive football but today’s game was one that we needed to win after losing the last 3 in the way we did, in order to get back on track.

Play not so well but win and stay in the premier league or play attractive fancy football but lose every game and get relegated.
I know which one I’d take! I enjoy watching us win a lot more then I enjoy watching us lose. How we play doesn’t matter. You don’t get points for playing fancy stuff you get points by scoring more the opposition. Simple.

The points were all-important today. We secured them
and that's the vital bit.

I like you Steve and can only wish I was as upbeat as you! If you get in your car after a horrible defeat with a smile on your face you’re a rare breed

Thank God we won today, That means we have taken 4 points from the 11 teams above us this season .Yet the 8 teams below us have taken from just the "Big 6" Brighton, Bournmouth, West Ham, 6 points .Everton, Norwich, 4 points. Southampton ,Watford,2 points. and Aston Villa 1 point.

I didn’t think the game was half as bad today as some are making out.At least we competed and it was a fair competition. Defending for 90 mins against Man City and offering zero threat is not entertaining.
