Re: Jbg
My favourite player, but his body has become glass and we rarely (very rarely) get more than three or four games out of him...strange when you consider that he played nearly 90 games for Charlton in the two seasons prior to signing for Burnley. On his day, he’s a wonderful player who improves us, but sadly, those days are becoming extreme rarities.

Apparently yes, he has been abducted by aliens, although apparently recently he's been returned, but his bottom is very sore, so he's not on the grass yet.

Re: Jbg
Class him as an extra, not a player. If he plays it's purely a bonus.

Re: Jbg
102 games in 3.5 seasons suggests otherwise. Probably about average for a winger that?jdrobbo wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 10:05 pmMy favourite player, but his body has become glass and we rarely (very rarely) get more than three or four games out of him...strange when you consider that he played nearly 90 games for Charlton in the two seasons prior to signing for Burnley. Massive player for us though. Vastly underrated by many. And having him on one wing is when we see the best of Dwight. Yesterday we had zero width on the right which meant McNeil had even less space and time than usual. Hendrick at times was playing the alexander role!

Re: Jbg
Mcneil had been coming much more central for that reason. I love JBG but theres no doubt we need new RW/RM or 2 if we offload Lennon.

Re: Jbg
Very good player. Southampton on day one a prime example of his quality. Needs to get fit and stay fit for a run of games - same with Brady. We have quality in the wide positions to be fair.

Wish he was on the grass, might take the pain away more than the Astroturf he's been smoking!

Re: Jbg
I think he is a good player for us but is susceptible to injuries.

Re: Jbg
How many in last 12 months or so(rhetorical before a precise answer is offered)? Like to see him in the line-up but just a passenger now. Too many players like that in a relatively thin squad.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 10:18 pm102 games in 3.5 seasons suggests otherwise. Probably about average for a winger that?

Re: Jbg
Had one very badly injury affected season, which not coincidentally came after he'd spent the full summer at the world cup before being pitched straight into a Europa League campaign.
His body didn't cope with 24 months of consecutive football well last season (understandably) and quite possible he's still getting over that now.

Re: Jbg
Slight exaggeration. But two seasons that merged into one without a break. So went in effect from summer 2017 until last May.
Hes far from the first footballer to find the second of those seasons before plagued by muscle injuries. He was knackered.

He’s played 19 League games in the last 12 months I think.

Didn't help when that Lincoln thug injured him - a cynical foul if I recall correctly that seems to have had longstanding ramifications on Guddy

Re: Jbg
When JBG recovers from an injury it seems to take him sometime to recover his best form.
This can be fairly normal for most players but over the past eighteen months just as he seems to get back to his best he is out again and the cycle starts again.
The whole right side of the team needs some serious thought over the next eight months.

Re: Jbg
He's here until 2021,so another 18 months or so,you'd hope during that time he'd contribute to our cause, but sadly he's becoming another Steven Defour,a handful of games a season at best,if he returns and has a run of games great, but we'd be daft to rely on his fitness, also he's another approaching 30,we definitely need to upgrade and get some younger legs in our wide positions,McNeil accepted we're desperately lacking pace and creativity.
