Tarks and Mee
Both took a battering from Carroll and JoeLinton, particularly Tarks in the first half. I had no idea until I read CT's report that Gibson was absent.
Lets hope all recover for next week or we will be in a mess, Long is out too.
I am concerned that Gibson is challenging JBG for his injury quota

Re: Tarks and Mee
The worst ones were the tackles on Tarks, the elbow was bread & butter to Ben.
Joelinton should have walked.
Joelinton should have walked.
Re: Tarks and Mee
When Mee was down looking dazed I was wondering what the move would be if he had to go off.
I guess it would have been one of Pieters or Cork to centre half, not sure which though.

Re: Tarks and Mee
Possibly Bards and Lowton at fullback?
Must admit to being worried when the Thug started targetting our centre halves knowing we had no cover on the bench....
Re: Tarks and Mee
I'd have guessed Pieters to centre back then Lowton on and Bardsley over to left back. The prospect of Pieters at centre back wouldn't fill me with much confidence tbh.
Re: Tarks and Mee
Tarks is 1 booking away from a ban,so hopefully Gibson will be fit,to fill in ,it will just be his luck he will be injured when his chance to shine comes
Re: Tarks and Mee
It doesn't really matter.
He could score 6 in a 10-0 win and itd be a case if how you were for the next game.
If he wasnt going to get a chance last season pre West Ham game, he never was.
Same can be said in parts for this season too.
We have a couple if undroppable players regardless of form.
We need to start upgrading the starting 11, so the bench is genuinely competitive and capable of stepping in for loss of form

Re: Tarks and Mee
Lowton has played CH, earlier in his career. Make as few changes as possible.
Re: Tarks and Mee
Have you any evidence for that? We have never won 10-0 or anywhere close under Sean Dyche, or anyone else for that matter; but Dyche has proven himself willing to drop the "undroppables" in the past. He just takes a lot longer than you would like. Everton last year and Man City this year were rare examples of tinkering with the team, but even then the City one was partly forced by Barnes and Westwwod being missing.
Different managers have different styles. Dyche's is to show great loyalty to his first team in the belief (presumably) that keeping them in the side in a run of poor form will help them get back into form. It's part of the package that Sean Dyche is. And IMO the "package" is working.

Re: Tarks and Mee
I was disappointed how many times Bardsley was left to mark Carroll at the back post. It was hard enough for Mee and Tarks. Reminded me of how Tripps used to get exposed at times.
Its amazing how referees see loads of little incidents from Ash, yet that thug gets away with so much. They must really have Barnes card marked before a ball is kicked.

Agree, said it many a time, his loyalty is his greatest strength, and biggest weakness. ( possibly not biggest, but you catch my drift )dsr wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 1:12 pmHave you any evidence for that? Re: Tarks and Mee
In terms of thuggishness, Carroll is a class apart - the only player to have a Health an Safety Risk Assessment pinned to his short.

Re: Tarks and Mee
It’s this narrow FB system we use. We tend to get away with it so can’t really complain but I hate it. They had a chance when Mee & Pieters were doubled up on Carroll, by our pen spot and the ball was played over them all for Manquillo coming in fast. Thankfully he couldn’t reach the cross. BTW Dwight let him go, naughty.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 1:20 pmI was disappointed how many times Bardsley was left to mark Carroll at the back post. I'm certain that if Tarks gets suspended and both Gibson and Long are fit, Long gets the nod.

Re: Tarks and Mee
Just watched the second foul on Tarks in slow mo a couple of times on Clarets Player and there is absolutely no doubt he alters his step to land on Tarkies foot intentionally.

Re: Tarks and Mee
Brilliant display by both our centre halves. There was, virtually, no defensive cover on the bench and I feared the worst when Ben Mee received that 'forearm smash' from Carroll. Although you would think that Carroll would get the message that he can't hurt Ben Mee.
