Re: CFS likened to hillsbrough
Tend to agree that it is a potential deathtrap. Especially as it wss never designed to be split. The home end is bad enough so god knows what the away end is like with one way in and out. I always wait until the end to leave the home end and rarely go down at half time.
That said, this is spurs all singing and dancing sparkly new away end...

Surely the concourse at any stadium (certainly away ends) is like that most weeks... one of the reasons we always go straight out and sit in our seats....

Hillsborough is a huge exaggeration but conditions such as these are not a great advert for the modern game.

Didn"t complain last season. Then again they won that game. Sunderland only got a home draw so that should make them feel better.
Re: CFS likened to hillsbrough
What a load of crap....coming up with not enough stewards to show us to our seat.
Pass through the turnstiles walk forward a few feet take a right up some steps sit down It's not rocket science.
No other premiership fan's have complained or was it because they lost to Little Burnley.

My experience is that most concourses are congested towards kick off time. Suppose these Geordies have never been to Villa Park or Goodison. If they’d have won we wouldn’t have heard a peep.

Should have cricket field end as a full home end, give the away fans a part of the lower tier of the Longside/Jimmy Mac

Re: CFS likened to hillsbrough
No concourses in football are designed to have more than half the capacity of the stand on.
The home section is bad because of the kiosk queues and lazy stewards not prepared to limit the queues so there's space for people to get past.
Remember how bad Preston was for the Friday night Joey Barton game? They stopped Burnley fans going through the turnstiles while the cleared the concourse, getting people to their seats.

Needn't have worried, even if we were still playing now they'd still be on 0.The fans were really good natured but if Newcastle had scored in that time and people had surged forwards someone could have been hurt

Thats why I dont understand newcastle complaining. They did let them drink in their seats. At least I assume they did as several bottles of beer got knocked over and ended up falling into our end... at about 90mphtarkys_ears wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 7:28 pmThen they should join the modern era and let people "drink" at their seats and alleviate the problem of overcrowding on concourses everywhere

Re: CFS likened to hillsbrough
It really sounds like a non story/moaner tbh. As mentioned already, many of us go to loads of away grounds and almost all are more "modern" than The Turf, but every single one has squashing, pushing, shoving and congestion on the concourse before the game, at half time and after the game, especially at the toilets. If this lady has never experienced it before, then she's not traveled to away games as often as she claims. I'm not saying it's right like, as I find it annoying when you consider some grounds are only a few years old, but it's obviously legal and it's very common. Look at the squish under the JHU at half time when people are trying to get to their waiting Bene and tepids!

Re: CFS likened to hillsbrough
I think the reference to Hillsborough is appalling to be honest but those pictures are damning, as is the response from our club.
We've been gathering information from some Newcastle fan organisations today and also asking similarly of other clubs who have been and filled it this season.

Re: CFS likened to hillsbrough
One thing that puzzles me is how were 3000 fans queuing for the toilet when they only receive 2400 tickets and one of their fans didn't use his because he was sat with me in the Bob Lord using my mates ST because he couldn't attend?
Re: CFS likened to hillsbrough
We saw this from the BL. There was a massive amount of fans at the top of the steps who just seemed to stay where they were, whether that was because they didn't know where to go is very doubtful though. It was weird as it actually looked like there was more fans than seats as there were no discernible gaps for this group to go to.

I'm not shocked at how many on here think the conditions under there are acceptable....Tottenham's concourse was packed also. But there was a number of Large Glass doors to Exit should their be an incident.whats the Exit strategy under the cfs concourse ? And how many Turnstiles are there on entering?Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 10:11 pmOne thing that puzzles me is how were 3000 fans queuing for the toilet when they only receive 2400 tickets and one of their fans didn't use his because he was sat with me in the Bob Lord using my mates ST because he couldn't attend?

Odd how no other clubs fans have complained and as above they were fine in there when they won last season with the same amount of fans. Wonder if they complain about the away end at Everton?

I can only vouch for the upper tier at Everton ...but the steps down to the concourse are wider than turf moor I got served quicker...and even had time to P!ss no bother and we'd sold out.and we lost!Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 10:21 pmOdd how no other clubs fans have complained and as above they were fine in there when they won last season with the same amount of fans. The CFS is spacious compared to the top tier at Villa. More of a corridor than a concourse. It is certainly in need of something doing but there are far worse out there.

That was my first thoughts after reading our response. It more or less blames the rowdiness of the Newcastle fans completely. That may have been partly to blame but it sounds to me as though the stewarding seriously failed and we seem to fail to acknowledge that.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 9:54 pmI think the reference to Hillsborough is appalling to be honest but those pictures are damning, as is the response from our club.

But paying them minimum wage for two hours isn't going to attract people capable.
