Ancelotti
Looks like he’s in at Everton. Ferguson in charge for cup match then they have gooners at home followed by us.
Makes it tougher but we will overcome.

Re: Ancelotti
Real statement of intent from Everton. If they back him they could really compete.
The fans will want him out by easter. Like Allardyce, Koeman, Martinez, Moyes and every other decent manager theyve had.

Re: Ancelotti
All the mention of Ancelotti on TV is of the manager who goes into clubs with ready made squads which is not what he'll be taking on at Everton

Re: Ancelotti
Fans of bigger clubs have the luxury of better players. That’s how you play better football.
May I suggest Manchester City for you at the weekend?

Good for him - not often that a successful foreign manager wants to join for a relegation scrap.

Re: Ancelotti
Style of football is a choice.
Brighton are playing wonderful football at the moment.
Sheffield United are playing high energy, lots of movement football.
Dyche wouldn't be able to play City style of play if he inherited players as good as them. Managers have to so focused and single minded, believe in their way to succeed.

Re: Ancelotti
It's an interesting concept the whole "style of play" debate... Dyche has maintained he likes to mix it up in favour of getting results, however given how long he has been at the club, surely he has had time to mould the team into the style that he really wants to play in? I appreciate the restrictions of finance, but I don't buy that we could not have picked up some decent ball players.
We rarely see the team keep the ball on the floor, however when we have done, especially in our successful Championship promotion seasons, we have actually looked a decent footballing side.
Dyche has regularly questioned the approach of playing great football if the results don't follow, but as Sheff Utd have shown, by being on the front foot and playing aggressively, it can often hurt teams more than keeping it tight and trying to nick a goal (plus it is far more entertaining).

Re: Ancelotti
Why not? The two promotions he earned us we played some wonderful football and scored loads of goals. Or have you already forgotten Ings, Vokes and Gray?Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 12:23 pmDyche wouldn't be able to play City style of play if he inherited players as good as them.
He goes with what he has got and very successfully. His remit is to keep us in the PL. we are playing clubs with benches of higher value than our team on the pitch and picking up points consistently.

I remember the goals and I've always admired Dyche for getting the team so clinical but I can't ever remember the wonderful football played.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 2:11 pmWhy not? We play decent football at times no doubt, but I can't ever remember being classed as a footballing side while he's been here.

Re: Ancelotti
It's also important to mention that the flare was already here when dyche arrived, that has steadily been replaced by workhorses with limitations, and as a result our play is very one dimensional. No doubting he got the side playing some good football, which makes it more baffling as to why he doesn't sign more flare.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 2:11 pmWhy not? Sky Sports must have been desperate for news earlier. They kept putting on the best 11 that Ancelotti has managed.

Re: Ancelotti
So you can only think of two halves of football in his six year stint? I think there's been a lot more.claretblue wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 4:01 pm1st halves against Forest at home + Brentford away were superb from Burnley...I mean Sean Dyches Burnley!

Re: Ancelotti
Why do we always seem to be one of the first teams to play when teams get a new manager?
Is it; A. We are considered an attractive fixture for clubs to get a good result so they change their manager in time(likely).
or
B. Manager changes are so common it just happens a lot due to high turnaround (perhaps more likely given the previous turnover records).

To a degree but it depends on the players you have too.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 12:23 pmStyle of football is a choice.

We played very good football indeed with Ings and Trippier in the team- no coincidence that they were 2 of the most talented footballers we have ever had.
Dyche likes to play with wingers and we’ve had a few decent ones but have been hit with injuries. He bought Defour a great footballer - and again unlucky with injury.
A team with Tripps, Taylor, Defour, Ings, McNeil, Westwood, a fit JBG etc and we would have the players to be playing attractive football. Replacing these with similar quality when they are injured or sold is very difficult - if not impossible for a club with out constraints.
Brighton have spent a lot of money bringing in players that have allowed them to play like they do - they could not play like they did last night without Trossard, Mooy and Maupay.....or with Glen Murray up front.

Re: Ancelotti
Sheffield Utd play good stuff and they’ve only just come up, spent a comparable amount or less than Dyche, it’s a lot to do with how their trained, managed as well as quality, we do have good players, their just coached in the way they are to play in a certain way that is chosen by our management team.
