Going to see it Friday.. Will let you know if it's Schite ..
Re: New Star Wars film
While we're at it, if anyone has kids who want Disney+ when it launches next year, just nick The Mandalorian from a streaming or torrent site and sit them down in front of it for a few hours. They become the cool kid in school, having seen it before anyone else, and your money isn't waster on the most pish Star Wars content Disney has yet produced. Watched three episodes then binned it. I'm not sure pop culture is drifting away from me, rather, I just think people don't understand good story and give it too much leniency for being Star Wars. If it weren't for the IP it wouldn't have been commissioned.
Re: New Star Wars film
Watched Rogue One the other night after it was on the telly. The cgi Peter Cushing was very convincing but the voice was wrong. Not a bad story though and looking forward to the final Star Wars film over Christmas( will it really be the end????)

Just the end of the Skywalker saga, I can see a new enemy coming, probably the chiss with Thrawn becoming a major character

Only just watched the Last Jedi yesterday, thought it was better than it's IMDB rating suggested.

Is it 9? Most of them are toss, some are plain terrible. Watch the first couple maybe and then find something else.

there's 12 feature length Star Wars films including the 3 Skywalker Saga trilogies. The ones in addition are Solo; Rogue One and The animated Clone Wars films

Re: New Star Wars film
The new trilogy makes the prequels look good
No interesting characters or development, maguffin plots, too much fan service.
Rogue One was the only good new film, half decent lead with a half decent back story. Fitted well into the overall lore and story we as we know it. Good action and ensemble cast.
Solo was just a film of his character wiki, no tension as he & chewie have to survive to reach future films. I don't care how he got his name or dice...
Should have done the trilogy with one director and three scripts pre-written. Most of these films spend all their time doing over the mistakes of the last one and trying desperately to find some overarching plot, but failing that cram in as much nostalgia distraction as possible.

Re: New Star Wars film
I see it tonight at 19:30, excited for it? Yes. Dubious? Yes.
The Last Jedi was absolute trash after a reasonable stab in The Force Awakens (although far too much rehash of A New Hope, very safe). It tried so hard to be 'woke' and pander to the SJW crowd that it forgot that it was a Star Wars movie. I am all for representation and equality, but it needs to work in tandem with the story, not be the sole focus of the narrative.
From what I have read, Rise of Skywalker attempts to walk back a lot of the mistakes that Johnson put into the Last Jedi, but it's also being very divisively received, so at the very least I am not expecting it to be a perfect ending to what is a wonderful saga of movies.
FYI - For the guys above asking whether they should watch Star Wars, of course! Please though, do not start with 'Episode 1: The Phantom Menace'. Whilst that might seem to make sense in a chronological format, you will likely struggle to make it to Episode 2 (and if you do, you will certainly not make it to Episode 3 as Attack of the Clones is abhorrent). Start with the original from 1977 (A New Hope) and do the original trilogy. If you love them, then move on to the prequel/sequel trilogies which have been received very poorly in comparison, but are still absolutely worth watching/enduring. Rogue One also (set between the Prequel trilogy and A New Hope - in fact, leading right into the original movie) is also excellent.

Re: New Star Wars film
The middle trilogy (episodes 1-3) would have been so much better had they let Samuel L Jackson say 'motherfucker' just once.
I know it's a kids film, but if Kate Winslet can get her muff out in Titanic then Jedi Jules should be allowed to swear at least once.

Re: New Star Wars film
Suckers... The first movie OK and perhaps the sequel but after that it just because a vehicle for social indoctrination under the auspices of a Star War movie.

The movie is really bad and too fast-paced, you don't have time to think about why it's stupid because the next bit is happening. Save your money.
Only small children and cretins like it.

Re: New Star Wars film
I'm by no means a Trekkie but took the kids to see this latest Star Wars on one of those IMAX screens yesterday.
It was alright actually, didn't get bored. One thing though, and I'm not a connoisseur, but does every one of these films end with a few guys on an 'against all odds' mission, whereby they take down an entire, all powerful empire with one decent pot shot at something important but fairly undefended?
It's like the Pentagon or Kremlin having 'Password123' as the firewall security to its entire network. Every film. You think the 'empire' would learn.
But like I say, less s**t than I thought it might be. The trailer for that 1917 film looked decent.

Re: New Star Wars film
I watched it over Christmas at that new cinema at Bowland Brewery, highly recommend it. Burger and a pint on a comfortable settee and priced well enough.
Enjoyed the film even though I was battling a hangover, hoping to watch again now I’ve shaken the Christmas alcohol off

I too gave up on Star Wars after “Phantom Menace”. It’s all money for old rope. Come up with something new, and I might deign to part with my cash and time.
There’s loads of new stuff to watch out there without catch-penny re-hashes like this.

Re: New Star Wars film
The Last Jedi was the worst film ever made so I saw the third part just for closure really, like the last series of Game Of Thrones. I'm glad it's over.
