Team of the 70s on YouTube

I expect many will have this at home but it's now appeared on YouTube.
Really good film of the 1969/70 Burnley team, including interviews with Mellor, Waldron, Coates and Adamson plus footage of the home match against Manchester Utd.

Some really good footage there, I'll watch it all later.

I really liked Peter Mellor, think he came from Witton Albion, really rated him, but then he picked up a bad arm/shoulder injury and wasn't the same again.

Strange watching it now for me when I see people speaking on it like Brian Miller and Arthur Bellamy both of whom I knew really well.

The club released it on VHS video initially but then included it in a DVD package some years later with Rhapsody, When We Were Kings and one about Harry Potts.

Fantastic. Although it was the beginning of the end of an era, loved the last few years in the First division

I wish the club would bring out more dvds (or better still blurays). The anthology one was great.

Thanks for that. Those are my favorite times at the Turf..
Martin Dobson looks like he could step into ANY team today...he's like a Rolls Royce.

The players come across as decent, down to earth young men. How things have changed.

Who were some of the younger players seen setting out the changing room etc.?

The only one I recognised was Taffy with glasses.

Film: Team of the Seventies

Post by chekhov » Tue Dec 24, 2019 4:38 pm

Superb documentary from 2003 I think, showcasing a 1970 film about the Clarets.
Features Peter Mellor and some wonderful footage of home game against Man Utd.
A must see.

I think it might have been VHS when the club first released it but they then included it in a DVD box set along with Rhapsody, When we were Kings and the Harry Potts video.

I think they have a range of Burnley videos and blurays at Blockbusters if you're interested

Seems that it has been removed... possibly as part of the attempt by google to offer clubs pay for view options for YouTube club footage as highlighted by Den Perry on the money thread

I saw it a while back. Peter Mellor came across really well. Imagining stepping up directly from the Northern Premier League to Division 1.
