Todays footie
Re: Todays footie
No doubt Pogba will be back v us
Re: Todays footie
The way to beat this United team is by sitting deep and not giving their pacey attacking players any space in behind, suits us perfectly next week. They destroyed City on the counter attack the other week.

Re: Todays footie
Their record against the "big" sides is actually pretty good, they've beaten Leicester,Chelsea and City, and of course they're so far the only team to deny Liverpool 3 points this term, but on the other hand they've lost to Bournemouth and West Ham,and drawn with Villa and Southampton, they really are a curate's egg of a team to predict.
Pogba's on so i guess he'll play on the 28th.

Pearson has got Watford organized very quickly, wouldn't surprise me if they are clear of the bottom 3 by the end of the season

Or could just be the new manager effect. Players giving 100% instead of 70%.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 3:45 pmPearson has got Watford organized very quickly, wouldn't surprise me if they are clear of the bottom 3 by the end of the season

I'm talking about their organisation in terms of tactics, but yes the new manager bounce effect and all that could be helping them. I dislike Pearson with a passion so hope he takes them down tbhFactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 3:48 pmOr could just be the new manager effect. Players giving 100% instead of 70%.

you see the replay from behind the goal of Deli Ali ducking his head from the shot, I'd be furious if one of our lot did that

He gave a free kick which was overturned.
I see his logic, if the keeper got the ball it was a foul, but he didn't so penalty.

Was it not Anthony Taylor who booked barnes v Southampton last season and didn't give the most blatant penalty I think I've ever seen ??

Re: Todays footie
THat was his original decision!! Unbelievable! The keeper chickened out because he could have caught the ball and then been clattered. however, he chose to go for it with his foot and once he missed the ball the penalty was inevitable to me ---but not to Taylor!

A refs 1st instinct is always protect the keeper......why.

I don’t like VAR but it got Taylor out of jail with that decision although I’m not sure why it took so long.

Re: Todays footie
I haven't seen today's incident but 'yes' in answer to previous posts Taylor gave the Vokes penalty at Swansea when he himself handled and denied the Barnes penalty v Southampton at TM last season.
Generally I think he's one of the better refs but maybe I'm wrong - VAR is exposing them to incredible scrutiny, regardless of how they call the decision.

He also awarded Swansea’s winner that day when he gave us the pen after Llorente climbed all over Ben Mee.EarbyClaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 5:34 pmI haven't seen today's incident but 'yes' in answer to previous posts Taylor gave the Vokes penalty at Swansea when he himself handled and denied the Barnes penalty v Southampton at TM last season.

someone needs to give Mason Mount a medical, his balance seems to be an issue given how much time he spends falling over

I'd forgotten about that - but yes absolutely, a classic case of 'evening-up' after he realised his mistake earlier in the game.

True. Always worth them taking a look at the build up to rule out offside though. But decisions like that are so obvious that they really don’t need to draw things out.

But today 100% correct.
If 95% of VAR decisions went correctly it would improve the game.

We're going into Christmas above Arsenal, one point behind United and two behind Spurs. We've won more games than Arsenal and United, same as Spurs - we have more clean sheets than all three of them.
Quite amazing how Liverpool (and mostly City) aside the PL has leveled out this year. Really strong endorsement of our philosophy - stick with your manager and stick with what you are good at.
