It wouldn't surprise me if Lennon starts, JBG on from bench later on.

Lennon.

Contributed to the goal today, earned his place with one or two other creditable cameos recently.

Lowton was the only fit squad player missing yesterday. IMO his attitude has been a bit iffy recently - I wouldn’t be surprised if the manager has lost patience with him and he may be on his way.

Bournemouth (and others) saw a defensive weakness and targeted our right flank through Ryan Fraser. We countered this with a bit of”stick” from Bards and Tarks. Interestingly Hendrick seemed to avoid the rough stuff but covered the hard yards. It will be Lennon that fits this role but he won’t play the full 90 and undoubtedly that is the area that needs strengthening in January.

Apart from him being out of form, which happens, what evidence is there of his "iffy" attitude? Apart from just making it up.

Lowts was on the bench weren’t he? Just out of form, questioning his attitude is looking for problems that I’m sure don’t exist.

In fairness I’ve seen a couple of examples of an iffy attitude from Lowton. Not that either of these would be classed as serious, but certainly iffy and I can understand why Dyche may not be too happy;

Trying to wind up a Chelsea player (can’t remember which) as he was jogging back which ended up with the ball in the back of our net. I don’t think Lowton would have got back in time but he was more bothered about giving the Chelsea player a mouthful than he was about getting back to help the team.

Verbally abusing a coach at half time warm up and generally looking disinterested.

Dyche may not care about either of these incidents although I suspect if he saw either he wouldn’t be happy considering the standards of respect and discipline he sets.

Lennon might get the Nod playing at his old stomping ground. He had his best game for us against Everton at home when we come back to win 2-1 from one down.
Get a decent hour out of him and then JBG or Brady.

Has to be Lennon. JBG on the bench but no way he'll come straight back to start. Fingers crossed regards Cork and Westwood but providing they are OK we still have game-changing options from the bench as we proved yesterday.

My reading of this is that, because they were not booked yesterday, they are now in the clear until receiving 10 cautions.

A player who receives five yellow cards before the 19th match-week will be issued with a one-match ban. If a player has accumulated 10 yellow cards by match-week 32 they will be handed a two-match ban.

Premier League rules for yellow cards accumulation
According to the Premier League rules:

An accumulation of 5 yellow cards results in a one match suspension.
An accumulation of 10 yellow cards results in a two match suspension.
An accumulation of 15 yellow cards results in a three match suspension.
If a player reaches a total of 20 yellow cards for the season he/she is required to attend a special hearing at the FA to discuss their on-field behaviour.
However, there is a concept of cut-off dates for yellow cards.

The five yellow card count is “reset” on 31st December. It means a player receiving their fifth yellow card of the season on January 1 or later will not receive a ban.
The ten yellow card count is “reset” on second Sunday in April. It means a player receiving their eleventh yellow card of the season after the second Sunday of April will not receive any ban.

Premier League:
- One-match ban if five yellow cards received before 19 Premier League fixtures (Dec. 26 round)
- Further two-match ban if 10 yellow cards received before 32 fixtures (weekend of March 30)
- Further three-match ban if 15 yellows received (no fixture limit)
This I believe has been the case since last season where only cards picked up in a competition count.
thoeretically a player could pick up 4 yellows in the League cup 4 in the FA cup and 14 in the league and not get a ban (4 by match 18, 9 by match 32 and then another 5 by the last match)

From the FA website (and they are the ultimate arbiters):
"Yellow and red card cut-off dates for players

For the first time, the 2018-19 season will also see the introduction of competition specific suspensions for yellow cards in the following competitions:

Premier League
EFL
National League
Emirates FA Cup
EFL Cup
Buildbase FA Trophy
Therefore, the cut-off dates for receiving a sanction as a result of accumulating cautions in league matches only are:

Number of cautions Cut-off date [inclusive]
Five [Premier League] Following 19 league fixtures
Five [EFL] Following 19 league fixtures
Five [National League] Following 23 league fixtures
10 [Premier League Following 32 league fixtures
10 [EFL] Following 37 league fixtures
10 [National League] Following 37 league fixtures
15 [All leagues] *End of the season**"

The 19 PL fixtures are, essentially, the same as having a December 31st cut-off but allow for fixture postponements - so Liverpool and West Ham will still have players under threat in the middle of January!

They have changed the wording since I first read this last season and it does now say "following the 19th fixture" whereas it originally said before 19 PL fixtures, therefore, both Barnes and Tarks will have to be wary at Everton!

Martin Atkinson has refereed 14 matches in the PL in which Ashley has played. He has cautioned him 7 times, once when he did not come on until the 79th minute and he also sent him off at Hull in the 90th minute.
Mind you, he was also the referee in the infamous Matic incident and did not see anything wrong with events.

Ashley always sails close to the wind and it is part of his game, he gives and takes knocks in equal measure and his booking yesterday was probably as much through frustration as much as anything and we have no idea what had been siad between him and Rico throughout the game.
The plus side is that Sean took him off ---probably for his own good ---brought Jay on and the rest is history!

28 next month so his next contract is likely to be the one that keeps him financially sound for the rest of his life
If he decides to run down his contract with us, going on a "free" elsewhere (even Championship) will include a sizeable signing on fee as well as wages.
No reason why another club would not pay as much as £3-4m to him for his services on top of wages
SD clearly rates him

As much as I hope we re-sign Hendrick, time is moving on and you start to wonder whether a club like ourselves would really let a £10m player go for free.

If there is interest in January in the £2-3m range, and little encouragement over the prospect of Jeff signing a new deal, I wonder if we would let him go?

We have no choice over whether he goes for nothing, that is just down to him and we certainly won't be letting him go this Jan unless we have at least two midfielders lined up to sign

It always seems tough, especially on centre backs, allowing them to only get 4 yellow cards in 19 games, otherwise they get banned!

Apparently he does, and we want to keep him.
However he will want
A. A nice chunky pay rise to go back to being a top earner, and possibly
B. Some indexation of if he will be a regular starter.

I dont think we can say he'll be anything other than a squad player next season as we need both a RW and a CM, and preferably better than we already have.
Where that puts Jeff is back to back up.

If he decides to move on, he can get 1 last pay day with a very nice signing on fee which he can command with being a free agent

Our dilemma will be funding a versatile squad player to replace him if he does leave, as those sorts of players start at 10m it seems

So it's a bit of a catch 22.

Ideally we would get in a a first choice RW and CM, or at least nearly 1st team ready with an eye on next season where they compete for a first team spot and effectively take the roles of Hendrick and Lennon.

If Cork and JBG have genuine competition or possibly are even reduced to the bench, we will have definitely moved the team on a notch.

Can we do that and how much itll cost is another matter as we need to do that this window IMO, so they are upto speed and are well integrated for next season.

We dont want to be in a situation where we are needing 2 or 3 players next season and we are still chasing them on deadline day in August.

Problem is itll mean carrying a few more bigger wages by having to wait for Hendrick and Lennons deals to expire in the summer.

It'll be our busiest time in terms of players in and out over the next 6-8 months , and Mr Dyches biggest squad rebuild.
Itll be interesting to see it all unfold and then the long term plan should become clearer.

( sorry for the mammoth post and 101 points )

Massively overhyped on this forum. Everyone knows he's bang average but some people want to flaunt their superior footballing knowledge so build him up into some kind of world beater. See also: George Boyd.

Hendrick does a great job at making it difficult for our opponents to play. Among other benefits, on many occasions it's bide time for everyone else to check they're where they need to be. Some players value lay in how they affect the opposition as much as how they affect our own play.

Hendrick does a great job at making it difficult for our opponents to play. Among other benefits, on many occasions it's bide time for everyone else to check they're where they need to be. Some players value lay in how they affect the opposition as much as how they affect our own play.
Hendrick is the type of utility player every manager values,he does whatever role is asked of him on a given day. He's not going to standout in any one position, but clearly SD rates his contribution to the team ethic.

For some reason Jeff has become a scapegoat on here, every club has one,but it's not his fault Sean tried to accomodate him in the nr10 role,he never has and never will be a nr10.

He's missing for the Everton game so we'll see what affect his absence has for better for wiorse.

Thats some stat when Atkinson is officiating where barnes concerned
Its like he has a grievance with him was he in the middle at Villa Park this season
Not sure we seem to be on the wrong side of decisions more than what seems to go for us with certain refs or is it me with claret tints on

Lee Mason was in the middle that day with Martin Atkinson as VAR ---he disallowed a Villa goal for offside.
I honestly think that Martin does appreciate the passion and physical aspect of the game, however, Barnes does push it to the limit sometimes, particularly with his 'rabbit'
