A Christmas Carol - BBC1

How good is this?

A real darker twist on the Dickens classic!

Both episodes have been brilliant and well worth the watch, however. I’m far from being a prude but I don’t see what, if anything, the use of the “f” word add to it’s merit?
Did the “f” word even exist then?

Typing 'fact' in capitals makes it indisputable.

FACT.

F*** yes.
Not sure about the context in which it was used in this programme though. It seemed a bit gratuitous and out of context.

Bit disappointed with it, tbh.

Was looking forward to it, and its not a terrible attempt, but could have been a lot better.
I think the production team were so intent on not doing a "traditional" version, they made that
their sole reason for doing it and didnt notice it slipping a bit into tedium.
And Bob Cratchit was far too insolent for someone in his station with no leverage.

However, the casting was good, Stephen Graham livens up most things he appears in,
i didnt have a problem with the swearing and i`ll watch the last ep tonight to see if it redeems itself.

Just my opinion.

7 out of 10.

Came in with the common market. In FACT, swearing is older than football which didn't begin to 1992/3.

And Christmas which didn't get released by slade until December in 1973.

I’m largely enjoying it. If I was to have a complaint, it would be it’s pace. I think it could be sped up a little.

And when did it first appear in Dickens?

They did the same with Agatha Christie. Swearing everywhere. I reckon there is a certain type of person that looks at great and successful authors and thinks "how much better Shakespeare would have been if I had written it".

I’m enjoying it, but best to forget anything to do with the original story and just accept it for what it is. When Lottie pulled the gun on the schoolmaster it was pure Peqky Blinders.

My bet is that when Bob Cratchett finds out how his missus has been funding Tiny Tim’s treatment, he’ll deal with Scrooge before he has chance to “double his wages”...
