Dyche christmas tipple
I'd like to know what it was.
Zero shots on target and brings Kevin long on as striker.
The ultimate in anti football.

That was painful. And that sub topped it off.
Only Mee, Tarkowski can take any credit from that. Probably Pope too.
Dreadful again.

He’s a wonderful ginger genius, who gets us playing some magical stuff. He’s also got a strong jaw at which he sometimes points when we spend 45 minutes hoofing clear

Re: Dyche christmas tipple
Yes but you can't say anything bad about Dyche on here or you get shouted down.Another God awful performance with NO shots on target again.Absolute dinasour of a manager who year after year makes our football more unwatchable. But we can stay up and get another 150 million, spend nothing on improving the 1st team and have another year of the same.

We have been pretty awful in the last three games and yet we’ve taken 6 from 9. We’re terrible to watch, even when we’re winning.

That's how the manager wants us to play. It's his preferred 'style'. It ******* stinks to high heaven.Lord Beamish wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 5:16 pmWe have been pretty awful in the last three games and yet we’ve taken 6 from 9. We’re terrible to watch, even when we’re winning.

The football this season bar the start has been absolutely appalling, to think anyone wants to pay £40 A game to watch us at the moment is amazing.
If your happy with the dross being served up all power to you but I’d rather watch 4th division football where we actually have some skilful players and try to play football as it has been intended by the greats down the years.
We are playing insipid and horrible non ball at the moment I hope it changes quickly.

Nothing to do with “knives out”. I’d be happy to stick with Dyche if he’d just stop being so damn pragmatic. We’ve played well this year, but it’s few and far between. Most of the time it’s just turgid.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 5:19 pmOh gawd here we go. We’ve lost so the knives are out for Dyche again

Re: Dyche christmas tipple
ST Money makes up so little to the club that it's almost irrelevant.
Having said that, if it meant we played football like Sheffield United, a club who charge around what we do for ST, and all without 5 years of PL money. YES I'll pay for it.

You do wonder what happens in training,is it all about shape and framework,we don't appear able to manage more than 3-4 passes before it breaks down.
Our defence is constantly under pressure and eventually the dam will break.

Re: Dyche christmas tipple
Firstly you can criticise Dyche on here without getting shot down. I’d you say otherwise you’re making things up. Don’t forget that this is a place for discussion so if you criticise Dyche people are entitled to take an opposite view. If you post utter stupidity about Dyche, and calling for his head after this defeat is utter stupidity, then you should expect to be shot down in the same way as if you posted utter stupidity about any topic.
Today was very poor and that’s two very below par performances in a row. I don’t consider the Newcastle game to be a poor performance, just not easy on the eye in horrible conditions.
We need to up our game and be positive on the ball. Today we had throw-ins several times on line with the 18 yard box and chose to go all the way back to the player with the worst passing ability on the pitch. It’s nonsensical. Dyche is afraid to over-commit in attack and when we come up against teams with pace he is right to be. But there’s nothing wrong with putting a cross in the box to our two centre forwards who are very good at scoring with their heads.
The first half signalled our lack of intent today and it’s not good enough. I can accept that against a Liverpool or Man City but not an average Everton side, who granted are still better than us.
Dyche’s remit is to keep us in this division though and he’s shown he’s pretty good at that. There will be some poor performances along the way and there will be some good one’s. Indeed we have also had our share of those this season too.
Calling for Dyche’s head after our recent run, which has still seen us pick up 6 points in 3 games and only concede one goal, is totally knee-jerk. There isn’t a business owner with sane mind who would even consider sacking a manager who has performed as Dyche has to this point. It’s a silly suggestion and an increasing number of our fans on here are starting to sound like fans of other clubs who we often mock for their delusions of grandeur.

It’s interesting how clubs that play route one football in this league seem to go through this cyclical demand for a style alteration after a few years.
Ask Stoke fans about it, they remember.

Re: Dyche christmas tipple
Don't think delusions of grandeur has anything to do with it. The football is awful to watch. I am sure we played better football in the championship. After 4/5 years of Premier money we hardly ever improve the starting 11 and the football is getting worse by the week. A day out watching Burnley is getting harder by the week. Yes we will always struggle against teams who throw money about but let's have some attacking football and not this aimless punt we are given every week. After all its supposed to be entertainment

Re: Dyche christmas tipple
We need to spend more money, absolutely. Need one, arguably two central midfielders, a right back and a right winger and need to bring the age down of the squad.
I don’t think anybody would disagree with that.
I think expecting us to try playing more expansively, be more open and change what Dyche has shown is his modus operandi over the course of seven years is just something people need to accept will not happen. Personally, I’m fine with that, I find it enjoyable regardless of it being up in the air (when it gets results). I realise - on here anyway - I might becoming the minority with that.

I think it's because route one football is utterly **** and soul destroying. I used to go absolutely bananas when we scored a goal, now I just about manage to get to my feet, such is the sterility of the place now.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 6:00 pmIt’s interesting how clubs that play route one football in this league seem to go through this cyclical demand for a style alteration after a few years.

I'm sure we'll look back when Dyche has long gone and consider our fond memories, but at this moment in time I'm struggling with it.
Re: Dyche christmas tipple
You know it’s grim watching when the post match view after most of our games this season is “we should have stayed in the pub”.
Sean’s lack of budget defence is rubbish. Just watch Sheffield Utd who have far less brass than us but try to play creative/attacking football alongside the structured/organised defending.

I will agree when people can point out who the replacement will be for Dyche and how we are going to finance him to play the wonderful attractive football. Or do as suggested above and settle for watching “skillfull Players” in the 4th division (wherever that is now).
Or you can stop moaning and support the team.

Re: Dyche christmas tipple
Nobody, not one person expects us to play like Brazil.
But plenty of us after so much premier league money, transfer incomings and net profits expect:
To have at least a couple of new players per starting 11 per season.
To look to bring the age of the squad down.
To look to bring in some players for the future.
To look outside the british isles for talent.
To have ONE shot on target in a game.
Not
To bring Kevin Long on as a striker, ten years after we signed him as backup centre half!
To have a summers business that consists of a 30 year old ex player and a 30 odd year old ex stoke player (again).
To lose our captain and only leader because a newly promoted side could offer him better guarantees than we could.
To not bring in the type of players who allow us to look at alternatives to 442 now and then.
To not spunk 50 to 100k a week on a midfielder who wasnt fit, doesnt fit the team spirit and was very unlikely to ever dislodge our tried and tested workmanlike midfielders
Dyche has been great for us. And still is. Its not entirely Dyche. I can take direct football. But not the lack of attempts we are seeing and either his inability or unwillingness to see it himself.
Ive been a regular at pretty much every game home and away for 30 odd years. And yet this season for the first in memory I am less and less bothered. Today was my second away game of the season. And im in no rush to go to any others soon. £100+ today when could have watched it on tv amd spent time with the family over xmas.

Positives
Defence looked solid
Pope looked commanding and made a great save early on
Negatives
Passing
No attacking football or attempt to score whatsoever
Summary
You should have stayed at home your a bad look charm
Hypothesis
New better players needed to create attacking oppurtunies

Re: Dyche christmas tipple
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I've been mocked countless times on here, so I don't want to become one of those who joins in with the bullying.
I personally tend to be pretty critical of the team, style and Dyche, but it has to be said today was always going to be tough, against another side with a new manager, everyone trying desperately to impress and the fans trying so hard to make sure he gets the best start. Lets not forget too, the "new manager" boost would extend to any team of any kind of quality, let alone Everton who have spent like crazy on players the last few years.
It was pretty much written in the books that we lost, and we did well to hold out until we did.
What I'd love to see is a bit more composure on the ball, there's too much "hit, run and panic".
I try to look at it positively, a loss before the transfer window can only mean more pressure on the club to get some new signings wrapped up.
