Thought he had a surprisingly good game - especially for a referee who is normally so bad.

The first time I've ever seen the half time whistle blown before a corner has been taken.

You should see it more often. Play should only continue for a penalty to be completed. This does not apply to free-kicks or corners or play in any specific part of the field such as the penalty area.

Our own bloody fault. Last kick of the half and we waste time then faff about with it.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 8:50 pmThe first time I've ever seen the half time whistle blown before a corner has been taken.

Just a couple of minor issues today and I did think two Everton players, one of them the goalkeeper, should have been yellow carded.

I've seen it loads of times BUT usually the whistle goes as soon as it's gone dead. Never seen the ref blow up once the player has set it up to take it and the players are waiting for the delivery.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 8:50 pmThe first time I've ever seen the half time whistle blown before a corner has been taken.
Re: RATE THE REF - Anthony Taylor v Everton
I agreed with the corner decision. It was the same position as when Arsenal scored that handball winner at the Turf - they were given a corner just about on the full time, but then faffed about deciding who could take it to make sure there wouldn't be any chance for Burnley to counterattack. The ref that time extended play to give them their chance. Like Taylor today, he should have blown for time.
But for the rest, I thought he was poor. He gave twice as many free kicks as there were fouls in the game. Taylor's decision making - 1, has a man fallen over; 2 - did an opposition player touch him - if the answer to both is yes, then blow your whistle yet again. Fair tackles and challenges for the ball were only allowed under exceptional circumstances.

Garbage as always. Possibly the worst ref plying their trade currently. Stealing a living in my opinion. After his decision in the Spurs v Chelsea game at the weekend when he got the most stonewall of all time stonewall penalties wrong, it should have been a case of thanks for your service but you are simply not up to scratch.

Correct, but if the shoe was on the other foot and it's a home corner he would have allowed it. He tried every way possible to give the home team the advantage yesterday

Other than the corner issue ( which many have have already said was probably our own fault) I don't think he made any mistakes. Only David Elleray could have done a better job.

Not sure what he did at Spurs had anything to do with yesterday and he was allocated yesterday's game long before he too the Spurs v Chelsea game.THEWELLERNUT70 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 10:36 amGarbage as always. Don't think he had a bad game at all yesterday, can't think of anything he got badly wrong to be honest although, as posted earlier, perhaps a couple of Everton players could have been carded. So no, he wasn't garbage, far from it in fact, and if you think he's the worst ref plying his trade you must have a very high opinion of people like Drysdale, Kettle and Stroud.

Re: RATE THE REF - Anthony Taylor v Everton
I've just watched it again. The ball went out on 45 mins 34 seconds and he blew bang on 46 minutes which he has every right to do. Interestingly, I think it might have actually been a goal kick. It's not obvious whose knee it came off but Taylor did have a wry smile on his face suggesting it was perhaps his.Darnhill Claret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 9:02 pmYou should see it more often. Was it three seasons ago when Arsenal were allowed to take one seconds past the end of stoppage time, from which they scored and we complained bitterly that it was past the allotted time, although there is nothing to stop him playing beyond that. We can't have it both ways. The ball was dead, time was up, I suspect it is the correct thing to do.

Did Dermot Gallagher not mention it this morning?
Re: RATE THE REF - Anthony Taylor v Everton
Let’s be honest, who really cares about that corner? To the letter of the law, albeit he was being a jobsworth it was the right call and chances are we’d have made nothing of it anyway. Next.
