We still miss John Deary, never mind Hendrick.

It is not all Dyche. The season with Defour half fit showed some great play. It is the pawns he has available.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 11:19 pmStill waiting for Brady to play the way we know he is capable

Not retracing old ground but he's wasted millions on players who can barely make the squad. He's had cash relative to our club size, he's just wasted lots of it.

Re: We missed
£26mil in Gibson and Vydra, neither in the squad and neither playing any part in our season - inexcusable for a club our size and finances - as Dyche likes to tell us about.
Buck stops with the manager and how he sets his team up, not many players here now were signed before Dyche took over...

Re: We missed
In the very limited time he has spent on the pitch my impression of Gibson is 'a rough diamond'.
Pulling shirts at set pieces in the box won't cut it at the PL level especially with players schooled at RADA and VAR.
Him not getting much game time is more about Tarkowski/Mee and I just don't see Gibson making a poistive impact at this stage.

Maybe the real reason Gibson doesn’t get much of a
look-in is that we have one of the most effective centre-back partnerships in the league. They were both fantastic yesterday.

Defending is part of the game, watching Mee & Tarkowski defend for their lives is a fantastic thing to watch, they are excellent at it.scouseclaret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 9:30 amMaybe the real reason Gibson doesn’t get much of a

Just lucky he fluked... Nick Pope, Tom Heaton, Lowton, Bardsley, Tarkowski, Ward, Taylor, Gudmundsson, Barton, Defour, Gray, Barnes, Wood, Boyd, Arfield, Brady, Hendrick, Westwood etc and able to introduce McNeil, develop the existing staff get us promoted twice (inc Champions), get into Europe for the first time in over 50 years, get a superb training facility built and maintain our Prem status, on a shoestring budget, for several seasons, thus defying gravity.
No idea how he has hoodwinked everyone for over 7 years and still in his job for life!
You made a really good point............not.

I don't think anyone is questioning his achievements as the period of success has been beyond anyone's expectations.IanMcL wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 9:52 amOf course he has.

It is more that he talks of a lack of finance at every opportunity, yet he has been backed on Gibson / Vydra / Drinkwater / Vossen / Hennings / Wells / Walters / Crouch / Lennon / Brady / Hart etc.
It's not a matter of comparing his successful transfers versus his non-successful as I too would argue he has made more good signings than bad, but the point is that he has had money to spend and has signed the majority of the squad himself, so we are playing by the methodology of the manager, not just the tools he has to work with.

Re: We missed
I really don't see what difference Hendrick would have made yesterday, our whole midfield Westwood accepted needs an upgrade in the next 2 windows.
Our defending was immense, and on another day we could have nicked a point, but it would have been an undeserved point on the balance of play.

When Tarky goes end of season for 50m etc and Gibson then becomes the “ new Tarky” all will become clear

Re: We missed
I’m not sure Dyche talks about lack of finance at every opportunity. When we come up against the big clubs he has a point though. In terms of the cost and quality of a Manchester City team for example we should expect to lose 5-0. He’s just being realistic and trying to suppress expectations which I don’t see as a bad thing.Row Z wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 3:50 pmI don't think anyone is questioning his achievements as the period of success has been beyond anyone's expectations.

In terms of the transfers you mention, I feel our ‘lack of finance’ is more in regard to salaries than transfer fees. If for example we have a salary cap of £50k per week (who would have thought that 10 years ago) how can we compete with clubs who can pay £80k per week for the signatures of players?

Re: We missed
Agreed, however it does demonstrate we can be competitive in the right markets and he does get backed. I read that we are paying all of Drinkwater's wages which is a massive commitment from the board, but how can Dyche justify his decision to sign him based on how this has worked out? Admittedly some elements of this have been outside of his control, but he has been fit for a number of weeks and still doesn't feature even when we are being heavily beaten. Next Dyche will state he hasn't had a great deal of match time and is lacking match fitness!Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2019 11:02 amI’m not sure Dyche talks about lack of finance at every opportunity. The financial gulf is only getting bigger, with each new signing for the Top 6 sides pushing the max wages upwards and upwards. I think recently Dyche has stated the league may outrun us with us not keeping pace with even the lower financial packages being offered.
That said, we must be competitive with all championship clubs and there are many players in that league that would strengthen us but he is very particular on who we sign. To me, having someone with pace as an option to run at the opposition would provide us with another dimension. This wouldn't be outside our financial structure and could be a young raw talent, with potential to develop.

Re: We missed
Can’t make my mind up whether you are either anti-Burnley, stupidly argumentative or just a complete clown.
To suggest that is all Hendrick can do suggests all three and is also downright insulting.

Re: We missed
You are spot on. It’s all about wages. I also agree with you. I’m not sure Dyche takes every opportunity to make comment on finance.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2019 11:02 amI’m not sure Dyche talks about lack of finance at every opportunity.
