That's nonsense - he blew because it was bang on time. I'm told he's done that a few times this season previously. Nothing to do with how long it was taking us and I'm sorry but 26 seconds is not a long time.
Anyway he gave the corner I am not here for a argument like i said its up the the discretion of the ref how long he allows whether it over the official given extra we have been on the receiving time of that plenty of times.
And who questioned 26 second i've not mentioned that

You suggested that it was our time wasting at the corner that prompted him to blow and I was querying how on earth 26 seconds could be considered time wasting. I'd no problem with him blowing bang on time, that's how it used to be back in the day, but it is rare to see it now.

Point taken its just there is so much inconsistency with pieces of the games now its hard to defer which to go with and the reason for it
Like you say it a completely new ball game now

What time wasting? Have you seen it?
Is that serious? We do it every game.

Come on Tony. We waste time every single match.

Given the thread topic, where was the time wasting at that corner. I’ve just seen Bournemouth take over a minute and a quarter to take one. I don’t see how 26 seconds can be considered time wasting in this instance.

Where was the timewasting? The fact Westwood casually strolls over instead of showing a bit of urgency.
This setting up a team not to lose instead of trying to win really is the pits.

26 seconds and he’s come over and is ready to take it. It’s as simple as that. I know it might not suit your agenda of criticising at every and any given opportunity but this point is boring and ridiculous.

Your defence of the indefensible is boring and ridiculous. If you can't see we timewaste from the first minute, if you can't see we don't set up to win games, then it's a pointless convo.

No. Your constant whining is what is ridiculous. I think I’ve counted 7 wins this season which is an amazing achievement for a team that doesn’t set up to win. I can’t even begin to imagine what you are watching and if that’s what you see then I don’t understand why you keep watching.

Are you suggesting Burnley don’t time waste?!

We got what we deserved for that corner decision

Did we set up to win against Everton? Even when we went a goal down, he brought on a centre back fgs.

Had we shown more urgency the corner would have been allowed to be taken. The referee followed the same apathy that we showed and blew the whistle. Disgraceful from us when set pieces are our biggest threat.

No he didn’t. He brought on a player he thought might win us a ball in the air if we got a set piece. With Long on it gave us another good header of a ball to try and rescue a point.

He has done quite well then because we have won or drawn more than half of the games we have played this season and that isn't bad for a team who don't set up to win.
All teams time waste, it is part of the game and always has been. When Man City were 2-0 up with 10 men at Wolves last night it was taking them ages to take any set piece. It is the referee's responsibility to keep an eye on this and it does not matter what fans think one way or another.

We were timewasting at 0-0.

Your point is?
Under Sean Dyche Burnley have won or drawn 64.7% of matches so we must have wasted a lot of time to manage that, particularly as we are set up not to win matches. Just how do they do it? Must be something to do with good management of the resources available or perhaps just luck.

26 seconds when we were already into stoppage time which was 1 minute is ludicrous.

McNeil strolled did some kick ups and then walked off let someone else take it.

There was zero urgency.

For anyone who doubts the urgency...

Unfortunately the full 26 seconds is too large a file.

Personally I thought we should have shown some urgency to get the corner taken. As I've already mentioned on other threads they were the team under pressure and they wouldn 't have relished a ball into the box at that stage of the game. However, time wasting in general is a pet hate of mine and has been for a while. Inordinate amounts of time are lost in a game from taking goal kicks, making substitutes, goal celebrations, setting up at free kicks/ penalties, and no doubt others I've not considered. Lip service is offered every year to remedy it but it doesn't get any better.

Timed our corners yesterday. Almost all were taken in under ten seconds. Strange that.
